Amidst the sea of contemporary platforms for eclectic electronic music, VALE and Forest Biz maintain a steady position at the forefront of the pack. Both entities have spent the last several years in service of especially fluid styles, showcasing a brazen form of creativity bereft of boundaries; everything from garage to Neuro, trip-hop to glitch-hop, organic to synthesized, and every flavor and texture in between. With such clear parallels between both labels, it should come as no surprise that a faceless concept act by the name of Okeh Bosque is a collaborative project between them, showcasing not just the novel individuality of each respective catalog, but going the distance to educate rhythm junkies on the complexities of high-powered, matrixed bass music mixes. In celebration of this newly minted bridge between contemporary operations, The Rust is excited to present Rusted Rhythms Vol. 42, curated by the Okeh Bosque duo. About the guests

@mandai - This bad gyal has been a long-time staple in Vancouver's underground bass scene for over a decade. She started out by spending countless hours digging elbow-deep in crates of 45s in Canada, the US and Jamaica. Her finely curated sets landed her behind the decks continuously and firmly solidified her as a member of Vancouver's notorious LIGHTA! crew. She is well-known for her legendary mixes, some being all-vinyl releases, her true love. Blending reggae/dancehall with bass/rap/RnB/grime, her musical repertoire is expansive and fresh. A regular at Bass Coast, she also graced stages at Shambhala, Diversity and her family-run festival The Field. She rocked the Thunder Stage at LIB and made ripples at the Moon Stage at the Oregon Eclipse when she covered for Om Unit.

@mzrevolution - Spinning, throwing jams and running borders since 2000, Mz. Revolution brings the wikkidest sound to the massive. Keeping her selection fresh, her sets span bass music genres including jungle, jungle-footwork, dnb and uk funky.

Mz. Rev started DJing and promoting in Ottawa in the early 2000s. She held down Ottawa's Chicks with Decks and was the main organizer of Ottawa's original graffiti art parties, Beatz and Piecez. Beyond rave and club gigs, she played graffiti jams, rock climbing competitions, protests, rooftop parties and was resident DJ for Carleton University's vegan soup kitchen, the Garden Spot.

I built this body of work around the concept of taking a stroll and absorbing your surroundings while travelling inward and thinking/feeling things deeply while experiencing the environment you're physically passing through at the same time.

Traversing a wide range of tempos and genres from 86 up to 160 BPM, these tracks are all held together by a common thread of dubbed out sound design. Spacious and bass heavy energy, lush echoes, reverb and soulful spirits all throughout. Hope you enjoy as always.
