I added some guitars to TDK's excellent "Hoovering With a Hangover" from Chiptunes = WIN vol.2 (https://chiptuneswin.bandcamp.com/album/chiptunes-win-volume-2-2). This track was my favorite on the comp, and having the chance to work on it was really special for me. It got even sweeter when I got to talk with TDK, a real gentleman who contributed to the mixing and mastering to bring this awesome final result.

Andromeda II

I'm finally back to a point in my life where I can focus on the 2nd album in the ECO series, Season 2 - Symphony of Heartless Certainty.  I had to go back and fix some of the writing in season 1's story, along with getting all the illustrations by a group of very talented artists inserted into it (Fortuna, Sorcerer Lance, and Cainethelongshot, as well as a special guest! Thank you all!) 

With that almost done though... it's time to finally get back to what I've been putting off for a year. This second album! Here's a taste -- the first track you'll hear. I'm pretty sure this album will have around 90 songs on it like the first album, but we'll see what the future holds! It really all depends on where the story takes the us...

The Sorthern Imperial Capital of Kerlynzia is known as Auraimsho (great cleverness cache, roughly translated from old Kerlynzian.) It looms large in Imperial Culture. It not only is (or rather, was) the home of the Empire's vast navy, but is also the spot where the Emperor resides most of the year. Along with all that, The local lords meet here to discuss laws, finances, and the problems of their people.  The city has ballooned in the last twenty or so years, becoming a manufacturing hub as well. Crime has become more rampant as the population booms.
Verse lived here for a time, and upon returning, is forced right back into a part of Kerlynzian life she'd hoped she'd left behind.

My first time using the VRC6 chip!

I've been trying to cover this song since I first started making NES music but could never get it right with just the 2a03 channels, since I was too stubborn to learn any other chip.
A few days ago I tried the VRC6, and it's a lot simpler than I thought. I might keep up using this chip, or even continue experimenting with others.

I used the sawtooth channel to complement the underpowered triangle bass, and the two extra pulse channels as an extension of the two 2a03 ones.

Channel management was still a challenge, especially starting around 0:53. I had to stretch so many instruments onto just the two extra pulses, since the original two were used up on the main flute and the light jazz guitar.
