This FM track showcase the FMDrive VST YM2612 DAC emulated distortion (Early Console Model 1)which is a feature you will not find elsewhere in any trackers or VST. This feature can be disabled if you prefer the cleaner sound.

This also showcase some interesting sound you can do with the unique SSG envelopes of the YM2612, the lead sound is composed of 3 channels of this for great echo and space effect...

I added some guitars to TDK's excellent "Hoovering With a Hangover" from Chiptunes = WIN vol.2 (https://chiptuneswin.bandcamp.com/album/chiptunes-win-volume-2-2). This track was my favorite on the comp, and having the chance to work on it was really special for me. It got even sweeter when I got to talk with TDK, a real gentleman who contributed to the mixing and mastering to bring this awesome final result.

My first time using the VRC6 chip!

I've been trying to cover this song since I first started making NES music but could never get it right with just the 2a03 channels, since I was too stubborn to learn any other chip.
A few days ago I tried the VRC6, and it's a lot simpler than I thought. I might keep up using this chip, or even continue experimenting with others.

I used the sawtooth channel to complement the underpowered triangle bass, and the two extra pulse channels as an extension of the two 2a03 ones.

Channel management was still a challenge, especially starting around 0:53. I had to stretch so many instruments onto just the two extra pulses, since the original two were used up on the main flute and the light jazz guitar.
