Back in 2016, Skee Mask and Zenker Brothers spontaneously attempted to play together at an afterparty in Prague, but after ten minutes the electricity failed. Two years later they finally had the opportunity to play a joint extended set for the first time - at Unsound Kraków 2018. The three DJs closed Saturday night in Hotel Forum with an expansive set building on adventurous forms of techno, jungle and broken beat, combining the collective interests of Ilian Tape. The set kicked off at 4am in the Ball Room.

Stenny is an essential producer in driving forward the sound of Ilian Tape. He has remained loyal to Ilian’s sonic aesthetic while carving his own musical path with incredible finesse. We can confirm, having seen him play at Herrensauna in Tresor and the Backdrop party in Newcastle’s Cosmic Ballroom, that his DJ sets are as exceptional as the records he releases. A versatile, adventurous and tough approach allow for constant forward momentum and a truly unrelenting energy on the dancefloor. Though the beats may be broken, his flow is anything but. The Italian grandmaster VSK delivers the fourteenth podcast for the TNDB-series. Based in Berlin, but hailing from Italy, this impressive producer/DJ is not one to be overlooked. With years of experience and numerous releases on his name, VSK is known by every techno lover.

VSK has been releasing on quality labels like Perc Trax, Modularz, 47, Planet Rhythm, Genesa Records and KEY. His releases always gain a humongous support by both artists and audiences. His experience behind the decks guarantee good and high-octave sets. A combined 25 years of making and playing music result in VSK being a consistent quality techno artist.

Ahead of our IT Takeover of Globus / Tresor this Friday, here is a podcast from that night’s closer, Dona aka DJ Plant Texture. This night will also feature the Continuum of Ectomorph live bookended by solo sets from BMG & Erika. We are very excited to reveal that Dona has a double pack on the IT Acid Series coming soon. He may be from Italy, but musically he is like a Midwestern brother. 

Of this set, Dona says: 
“This was recorded 31/10/2018 in Rome at Ex Dogana. I went there with another set in mind but in the end decided to play more heavy, taking inspiration from the place itself, which is located in an old railway station in Rome, now closed due to the Italian government restriction.”

Arys, born in Almaty, Kazakhstan found a new home in Tbilisi where they could immerse themselves in a flourishing dance music community. We are honored to share this mix under their alias Aresibo. "A playful mix of Chicago and Acid house with a slight Spanish touch  – the type of music I would normally play at the queer raves here in Tbilisi."

Galaxian is an arresting artist who blurs the lines between many different sounds and scenes. A militant style in the booth is matched by his helmet-wearing on stage persona: he gobbles up and spits out anything from industrial to electro, EBM to synth with an impossible amount of energy and improvisation. His dark drum programming and synth eruptions soundtrack cyber attacks that are utterly visceral and unorthodox and ah hour in his presence will leave you feeling exhausted he packs so much in.

This week we have a live recording from his gig at Concrete in Paris from December last year. It’s a blistering trip through his world, a flurry of ideas, textures and genres that sound as if they are fired from a machine gun. It will get you up on your toes and keep you there, leaving you wide eyed and ready for action no matter what time of day you listen to it.

Arguing that it’s about time for Stefan Vincent to step into the limelight is understating matters. After all, if you’re able to count the heads of some of the world’s finest labels, (think Traut, Stockholm LTD and Dynamic Reflection) and the likes of Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills among your fans, you’re obviously doing something right. This relative anonymity isn’t something that troubles the Amsterdam based producer, DJ and live act, though: more than willing to invest time in his art, the man literally lives in his studio and so is in no hurry whatsoever. 

His path, unlike that of many, hasn’t found him go from playing records to making them, but instead, after discovering work by inspirational figures like Steve Rachmad, Surgeon and Jeff Mills, Stefan immediately set to work on his won creative projects. Whether it is playing a DJ set or cooking up an expressive live set, Stefan always translates his singularly deep, rich and driving sound into the club environment. With a good amount of solid techno releases under his belt, he continues to win over the hearts and dancing feet of audiences across the planet.
