Soft Cops is a Vancouver-based 2-piece.

Soft Cops forces live-played electronics and voice through pedals they're not quite built for, using bricolage as a structural process. 

Purpose-built neither for the live environment or the dance-floor, Soft Cops music is developed first from small shards of tone, texture and repetition that are the extracted from improvised recordings. As archivist-curator, Cameron's role, in part, is to seek out elements to loop, treat, and elaborate. In this way, each layer of a Soft Cops song is considered sculpturally, where the success of a given track is judged by its ability to stand up for a little while without disintegrating into its component parts. 

Chance and error are incorporated into this approach. While Soft Cops music is composed of electronic sounds, the governing element of the music is not the parameters of the technology: not relying on click-tracks, MIDI sync or pre-recorded elements; rather, entrusting the real-time manipulation of individual signals to each other, across the platform of their tools, in anticipation of further manipulable material that can be incorporated into future compositions.

Cameron Blain was a member of Bakelite. Matthew Law performed with Daddy's Hands, Trancelvania and ESP Snake.
