It's also offensive because the whole point of singing a worship song is in fact to worship the Lord. It sets the stage for the entire sermon. Just as we rob God when we don't tithe, we further rob from God when give a half-hearted praise of worship. The Lord God wants nothing of this and has no need for this (nor should He).

I really didn't expect this from you. This struck such a chord with me. Personally, I feel you have just touched the surface of the topic you discussed in this podcast. I could have a long conversation about this. Christian all my life, but honestly, I'm invisible in my church of almost 20 years. The focus in on the lost and the sermons are geared toward them or the newly saved. I know I should feed myself more throughout the week...I shouldn't "rely" on church to do that. And yet, I long for deep, challenging truth on a Sunday morning. Like I said - you are scratching the surface...

Thank you for sharing this Matt. You hit the nail right on the head. It's refreshing to hear a voice in media that "gets it".

Matt, this is “spot-on.” The two things that I tell people is, if your church gives you the “warm ‘n fuzzies,” you’re in the wrong church. The other, the gospel was meant to change the sinner, not the sinner to change the Gospel to suit their sin.
