Specialized in working on projects with real orchestras, I have more than 20 years of experience.

I have worked on film scores for many international productions, including the Golden Globe 2024 nominee Suzume, Star Wars Visions, Save Angel Hope, Tell, A War Within, and Liebling, lass uns scheiden. I co-composed the multi-award-winning musical Dällebach Kari, (co-)arranged the hit shows The One and Vivid at Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin, and worked on highly successful game music scores such as Batman – Arkham Shadow, Lineage W, Anno 1404, Black Prophecy, and Halo Legends. My scores for Treasure Trackers, Hero and A Father’s Job have won several awards around the world.

Besides my work in media, I also write music for several international artists, including Chaka Khan, Anastacia, Gary Barlow, Ronan Keating, Bonnie Tyler, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the London Symphony Orchestra, and others. I won a Golden Record for my arrangements for Alex Christensen.

I hold a diploma in composition, arrangement, and piano from the music university in Dresden, Germany.

I studied music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. (CNSMDP) where I earned 3 prizes  (harmony, counterpoint and fugue), at the Bordeaux Conservatory (6 first prizes in harmony, counterpoint, saxophone, musical theory, chamber music and deciphering) and at the Saint Maur des Fossés Conservatory (harmony, orchestration and conducting).
 
I’ve composed more than 60 short movies soundtracks, orchestrated music for Pierre Adenot (Beauty and the Beast), orchestrated and conducted music for Guillaume Roussel (It boy, HhHH, 3 days to kill, Outcast, La French) and Erwann Kermorvant (The Clearstream affair, Braquo third season), and arranged musics for Christophe Héral (The Adventures of Tintin, the video game, Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends).
 
In 2012, I had the great honor to receive 3 Jerry Goldsmith Awards (best composer, best music in short-live action and best song) for the score of « L’Attaque du monstre géant suceur de cerveaux de l’espace ».
 
Over the years I had the great pleasure to conduct the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Paris Symphonic Orchestra, the Paris Scoring Orchestra,  the Star Pop Orchestra and smaller bands for intimate musics.

His work on the Jackie Chan animated film “The Legend of SilkBoy” was the highest rated indie film soundtrack of that year among film music critics and led him to be called “Composer to Watch” by Film Music Magazine.

An accomplished composer of both film and concert music, Alain’s music has been performed and recorded by orchestras across the globe, from Vancouver’s Metropolitan Orchestra where he was composer-in-residence for four years, to the Russian Film Music Orchestra to Taiwan’s Evergreen Symphony Orchestra and many more.

Alain is most at home in film, where he can combine his love of art, story, film and music. Kirby Atkins, director of Mosley, explains it best. “Alain Mayrand is primarily a story teller through music.”
