In it's original form, this song is a mid-tempo R&B song. Check it out, it's got an awesome beat. Each time I decide a song to mix, I often think of the 90s - 90s house, 90s R&B. For some reason, Changing Faces popped into my head. I can't say they're always at the forefront of my mind when I think of that era, but they did have some good songs and have amazing voices.
