One of the first mixes I uploaded here was this song - seven months ago in Feb 2024. Since then, I've (arguably) gotten a bit better at remixing, I wanted to go back and re-do this song because it's one of my favourite songs from the 90s. I left the original on my profile so that I could go back and hear the progress during that seven month span, if I ever choose to. I kept some things from the first mix that I liked (the bass line and a sound effect from Alanis' 'Plastic' along with a drum roll from the album version of this song). All other parts are new. Lisa Lougheed - Won't Give Up My Music (MattB217 Remix)

'Suzanne' is one of the most stunning songs on Lisa Stansfield's eponymous album from 1997. I hadn't intended on making this stunning ballad about domestic abuse (I know) into such a dance song (it kind of takes away from the message) but this is where it ended up.

I was torn between doing 'Romantic Call' or 'Worker Man' to remix from Patra's catalogue. Clearly, I opted for 'Worker Man'. I have a tendency to bring in a lot of instruments, making songs sound fuller, perhaps a bit over-produced. This has only a small handful of instruments, and I like that it sounded a bit simpler, yet still full at the same time. Track is not being monetized.

The Philosopher Kings is one of my favourite bands. I don't even know how many times I've listened to the 'Famous, Rich, and Beautiful' album. It's amazing. This song is a mid-tempo R&B leaning song in it's original form. The sound quality of the vocal was hard to improve; still sounds a bit canned. But I had some fun making this song dancey.

I've been a huge EBTG fan since the 90s - when they moved from a singer/songwriter/indie/folk lane into electronic. The 'Walking Wounded' album is amazing and I've long loved this song from it. Track is not being monetized.

Res' criminally underrated debut album, 'How I Do', is one of my favourite albums of all time. No skips, truly. I wish she'd garnered more notoriety than what she did as she is truly talented. I took this mid-tempo groove and turned it into a dance thumper. Track is not being monetized.

French Canadian singer, Mitsou, released the song 'Deep Kiss' in 1992. It was pretty popular in Canada at that time. In it's original format, it is a dance song. I just made it dancier!

Jason Walker is a phenomenal vocalist whom I'm loved for almost two decades - since his debut album 'This Is My Life'. I even had the great fortune of meeting him a few times, just by chance. I really enjoy the mid-tempo moodiness of the original track of 'Burn' so I thought I'd tackle it. Track is not being monetized.

In it's original form, 'Chains' is an amazing power ballad with a stellar vocal. Even after several decades, I still find the song moving. I wanted to see how it sounds as a house track. Track is not being monetized.
