Parisian duo WEKEED have remixed singer/songwriter Jerad Finck’s “Criminal", incorporating their unique blend of “sweaty grooves and sensuality” into an indie-based, electronic sonic exploration. The vocals rest comfortably on top of an ostinato created by picked guitar strings, and blend beautifully with Jerad’s vocals and the constant percussion and bass.  

The song itself is minimal - only guitar, percussion, drums, and some background chords are used. Yet the absence of sound gives the song room to breathe, and allows the listener to take away different things from it. Some may be captivated by the guitar; some by the drums; some by the resampled vocals. Overall, the vibe is one of pleasure and pain; of an inner duality known to by Jerad Finck, but implemented into our consciousness through WEKEED’s arrangement.

After the success of her first self-released EP “The Suspended Kid”, Sevdaliza releases her second batch of enigmatic songs on “Children of Silk”. The songstress/producer draws her influences from several textures like skin and glass. Sevdaliza’s melancholic visceral voice floats over beds of mechanical instrumentation, creating dynamics of chaos and order. Her songs have a philosophical questioning character, subjects like gender diversification and perception of emotion are strongly present. Diverse comparisons have been drawn yet it remains a difficulty to specify her in a particular genre. Rhythmic tensions build slowly into chaotic climaxes. Every retribution of her lyrics becomes more intense and personal, yet she isn’t able to break from that obscure statue of a woman. Children of Silk is now available worldwide via Itunes/Spotify.

Following his release of the groovy original cut, multi-talented Alexander Kotz aka Elderbrook has unveiled a remix package of his latest single ‘Difficult To Love’. Featuring remixes from Amtrac, Monsoon Moon, MR H’s, Command Q and Nu Aspect, the remix pack will be released on Friday 12 May. 
 
The ‘Difficult To Love’ remixes are a nod to the explosive energy of summer ahead. Amtrac’s caressing breakdown of Kotz’s emotive vocals propels his cut as a firm dancefloor filler. Amtrac (aka Caleb Cornett) is forward-thinking with his production and DJ skills, having previously released remixes via Kitsune, Defected and Ministry of Sound.
 
The MR H’s remix blends a looping vocal with hi-hats and wavering synths, which flaunt his distinctive house style. Having been the first signee to Radio 1 DJ Danny Howard’s label Nothing Else Matters last year, the Manchester-based producer has also released records on Toolroom.
 
Meanwhile Command Q brings a burst of energy to the original cut, creating a trap-style sound and distorted Elderbrook vocals. The Australia-based producer is about to embark on a tour around his home turf, after releasing his latest single ‘Choo Choo’.
 
The last remix comes courtesy of Nu Aspect. Providing a more summery rendition, his cut perfectly blends deep bass and light synths. The upcoming Bristolian bass producer brings the remix package to a strong close. Each remix seamlessly strengthens different attributes of the original single.
 
Kotz secured his vocal reputation with Andhim’s remix of his single ‘How Many Times’ – which was taken from his first EP Simmer Down. Building on this success, the producer, singer and instrumentalist had his much-hyped sold-out headline show at XOYO London at the end of March. Garnering support from BBC Radio 1 DJs and credible tastemakers, Elderbrook is further cementing his status as an artist to watch.
