Apathy Syndrome

Marking a decade on France’s bass-heavy underground, Noizion Recordz fires off French Ruff, a 15-track compilation that serves as a rough mirror to the polished French Touch's sound. Rather than rejecting that heritage, it reflects its glossy surfaces back through a prism of grit, weight and sub-low physicality—capturing the raw energy that has fuelled the label since day one.

Across the compilation, deep dubstep pressure, smouldering UKG mutations, and rattling breakbeats unfold with a cinematic sense of space. It’s music built for concrete floors, late-night fog, and sound systems pushed deep into the red.

French Ruff reads less like a retrospective than a statement of identity. Ten years in, Noizion Recordz stands confidently in its own reflection—gritty, immersive, and fiercely dedicated to the ruff edges of French bass music. A celebration of the artists who shaped its path and those driving it forward, it captures the label’s past and future in one heavy, uncompromising snapshot.

The ups, the downs, they're second nature to me now. Like breathing out and breathing in. I've grown accustomed to the mood swings whenever they begin.

This is an album of snapshots of mood and tone and I feel it represents a consummation of the more recent developments in my sound. What originally began as a return to the roots of my jazz inspired romps expanded to encapsulate a variety of musical influences: some original, some intentionally pastiche.
