𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒓𝒆: MARMO - Carezza [UTTER16]

MARMO, a collaborative project between Christian Duka (Vādin / Amoenus) and Marco Maldarella (Sinestesie), was born out of friendship and shared passion for music-making. Starting off respectively as the electric guitarist and singer in a metal band nearly a decade ago, the pair have worked their way through various flavours of electronic music inhabiting someplace between ambient and dance music, arriving at their singular aesthetic on this, their second album and first for Utter.

'Epistolae' - Latin for 'written letters' - was created between London and Bologna during the COVID-19 pandemic, an ode to friendship and as a way to keep connected during a time of isolated separation. The album is conceived as one continuous musical experience, with each track flowing effortlessly into each other in sequence as is heard on the final cut you are listening to now. A veritable sonic journey, as one might say.

The outcome is an undulating collage carrying emotion as its common thread, with rich ambient textures giving way to bursts of percussion, simmering with shrouded whispers and spoken word, embossed with rhythms and borrowing influences from downtempo, dub, breaks, techno and tribal electronica.

XOR Gate is the brainchild of Heinrich Mueller, one half of Drexciya and Dopplereffekt.

In linguistic or electronic logic, the XOR Gate designates a device, digital or grammatical, which outputs a value only when two differing inputs are fed into it. This can be summed up with the formula "one or the other but not neither, nor both."

A conic section is a shape created as a plane intersects a cone. This can result in different figures such as a circle, an ellipse, a parabola or a hyperbola. Conic Sections is here composed of eight themes, or shapes, over which waveform and synthesis entirely merge with human emotions. The line is blurred. These eight themes are intertwined, forming one long musical string. The line is forever blurred.

Conic Sections was commissioned by ArtCenter South Florida in Miami, for the AN IMAGE exhibit.

Releasing my debut album has been one of my most meaningful life-experiences, and apart from the times playing my livesets, I seem to never have found a right moment to share it personally with the world. Today it has been exactly one year since the release-date, so this should be a good moment.

"Kindred Phenomena marks Mattheis' debut album. After two cosmic EPs on Nous'klaer and a mini-album on tape for Ecstatic Recordings, he now returns to Nous'klaer for his first full story. An album shaped for every occasion: driving from the city to the island, dancing in the living room, or raving at sunset. On Kindred Phenomena Mattheis picks up where he left off: 'Swell' serves as another episode of the prisms, the modular synth excursion of 'Bit Fragments' pushes his arpeggiator solos a step further, and album standout 'Ben_M' provides his most beautiful dance of melodies yet. @Midgar_Records releases an EP by Italian PRG/M (@progra_m), a producer also known as 1/4 of the project r²π.  The vinyl version of the release includes four tracks, the digital comes with two more bonuses. Monument premieres Magnitudo, one of the bonus tracks, and together with Midgar gives it to the followers of MNMT as a free download. 

The Radiant Fields EP is out end of February.
