Cult figure and underground icon Roman Flügel joined us last June for our monthly radio show on Echobox. We caught up with the German maestro to discuss his longevity in the scene from early collaborations in the 90’s such as Primitive Painter to present day output, including an upcoming album. Will you has been an artist we have been really into for over a long time now, and we are very happy that he was intrigued by our concept when we reached out to him. The music that Will puts out there through himself as an artist, or through the work he does at @oleevarecords always hits the sweet spot. This time is no exception, as he has put together his Far Blue concept with such care and emotion.

"Everytime I have a mix I get a little closer to really finding the sound i want to put out. I used to be in a duo and I had to get used compromise. Now I'm doing my own thing I can fully be myself and put out whatever I want. This is definitely me, 100%. If someone wondered what to expect from Will You , this set is the answer.  I was feeling pretty emotional when I started recording this and I had no plan of what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go. I flowed through some pretty deep, percussive house, minimal techno and plenty of rolling acid bits that I would love to play out. The mood and colour of the music just hit the spot and put me in a zone where I couldn't stop. I was hoping to record something around an hour long but it didn't feel right to end it any sooner than I did. I hope a few people stick it out and get to the end, I reckon they'll enjoy it if they do. Big love xoxox"

Tucked away in his home studio, Californian tech house veteran John Tejada has been hatching lush, timeless harmonies that range from the free floating and celestial to the truly pulsating, for nearly two decades. Having trained on drums and the piano at an early age, the prolific producer/DJ/label head has sustained a self avowed appetite for extensive synth noodling and hardware tinkering throughout his career. And yet, to his great credit, Tejada’s gear lust has never gotten in the way of his looping sonics’ emotional high points, nor has his use of patch bays or drum boxes ever been informed by fleeting trends. He has published music on many labels (7th City, Slices of Life, ~scape), launched his own imprint Palette in 1996, and is now part of Kompakt’s esteemed roster. Signs Under Test, his latest LP for the stalwart techno imprint, is rooted in a gorgeous kind of analog tape enhanced nostalgia, with his spacious arrangements facilitating a total immersion into Tejada’s techno dreamland. Also known for his meticulous rhythms and mechanical groove, MUTEK patrons got a second stab at the hefty Tejada catalogue this year, following an energetic 2013 appearance as part of the Kompakt showcase.
