Here's a mashup between the infamous Nightcrawler hits from 1992 and the SA song called Iminwe from Makhendlas. As the latter was inspired by the former, I decided to merge the two to combine the unique vibes of kwaito music with early EuroHouse anthem.

New year, new 90’s South Africa mix with a focus on the 93-96 era. Previous years I’ve released a Kwaito mix on @ctw-podcasts  & @averagerecordsbln . This year I release it on my own page under the project name ‘Jam City’ which draws inspiration, both in name & artwork, from the original Kwaito project releases like Dance City, Ripp City, Dancemaster and so on. This one features the Kwaito DJ Tools, vocal sample tunes, Shangaan Disco, Import Mixes, Bubblegum stars turned Kwaito and the more out of the box renditions from the early and best era. All released on my favorite labels, produced by my favorite producers and featured on my favorite projects. Lots of recent uploads of mine, future uploads that will eventually find their way to my channel and uploads by fellow diggers whom I highly regard.

In this episode, we go back to the Southern African nation of Botswana for a Kwassa Kwaito Mix!!

During the early 1980s, there was a subgenre of Soukous (Congolese Dance Music) called Kwassa Kwassa that developed on the streets of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (then known as Zaire at the time) and this sound from Artists such as Papa Wemba, Kanda Bongo Man, Koffi Olomidie, and later Artists such as Awilo Logomba and Fally Ipupua was not only popular in French speaking African countries, but in English speaking African countries such as Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and especially Botswana. 

As Kwaito was popular in Botswana during the 90s, some Artists and Producers started to fuse the imported sounds from South Africa with the melodies of Kwassa Kwassa and then, Kwassa Kwaito was born, with Artists such as Vee Mampeezy, Eskimos, Wizards, Mingo Touch, and Exodus!
