Hailing originally from Bristol, Matthew started learning classical piano from the age of seven. Moving to London, he traded the piano for the guitar and spent much of his twenties in indie-rock bands. He was mentored by Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears, and as a solo artist signed to the independent record label of Gary Powell of The Libertines.

In 2012 he launched his career as a composer and soon found success, scoring Is This A Joke? – the acclaimed short film directed by Tom Edmunds (Dead in A Week Or Your Money Back), starring Russell Tovey and Mark Heap. That same year he was commissioned to write the soundtrack for the second series of the global hit TV show Dynamo: Magician Impossible, which brought him to the attention of film composer, Rupert Gregson-Willams (Wonderwoman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Crown), who invited him to write for his production music library, and contribute additional music for his score to Columbia Pictures’ feature film Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, starring Kevin James.

Matthew’s music combines the melodic and orchestral elements rooted in his classical and choral background, with the distinct electronic music that surrounded him growing up in Bristol.

He has written for KPM and Extreme music libraries, and his work has featured on numerous advertising campaigns.
