Hampshire psychedelic shoegaze trio Is Bliss continue to cause a stir with the release of new EP ‘The Honeycomb Explosion’, released 19th May on celebrated label, Club AC30. 

Having received rave reviews for last year’s debut release ‘Velvet Dreams’, produced by Pat Collier (The House of Love, Primal Scream, Swervedriver), the band’s rise has been swift having formed in late 2015. The band were soon signed by acclaimed London based independent record label Club AC30, a label that has a habit of developing artists from the psych/gaze/electronic & dream-pop genres including such acts as Pinkshiunyultrablast, Ringo Deathstarr and Flyying Colours.

With a shared love of Slowdive, Spacemen 3 and Verve, Is Bliss’s first year has seen the band turn heads with their explosive live shows and have supported the likes of Wolf Alice, Telescopes, Nine Black Alps, Mark Gardener and Robin Guthrie in a whirlwind twelve months. The band have also received radio support from the likes of Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft and Radcliffe & Maconie at BBC Radio 6 Music along with BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio. 

Building on the success of the band’s debut, ‘The Honeycomb Explosion’ opens with the soporific ‘Someone’ that echoes The Warlocks before giving way to effervescent guitars and wig-out drums.

‘Alive (Baby Come On)’ hypnotizes and mesmerises in equal measure, providing a heavy dose of visceral sound; a spaced-out sonic groove as Stuart pleads ‘I can’t satisfy your love’, to a backdrop of deafening feedback guitar. 

The dreampop of ‘Into A Dream’ glitters 60s-like with guitars that turn into waterfalls of sitar and full on, psych induced vibrations before the mystical and magical ‘Tomorrow’ is a trip into the unknown conjuring up a drug-induced utopia.

The EP closes with ‘Inner Soul’, a hazy, mind-altering trip with Stuart’s vocals immersed under a wall of reverb and fuzzed-up guitars, his vague poetry only adding to the atmosphere of the EP throughout. 

With a support slot lined up with The Jesus and Mary Chain in April plus more live dates and festivals across the UK and Europe throughout 2017, the band’s heavily anticipated debut long player is pencilled in for release later in the year.

Is Bliss are Jimmy Stuart (vox, guitar), Dean Edwards (bass) and Sam Speakman (drums).

In today’s uncertain times, Ceiling Demons’ latest release, March Forward, couldn’t come around at a better time, with its heartfelt lyricism speaking volumes for the power of perseverance.

Since the release of their experimental EP, Belly of the Hopeless – and the standalone split 7", Lost the Way, via singles club Come Play With Me – in late 2016, Ceiling Demons have been crafting a fresh body of work, to be released later in the year via Durham-based DIY label: Win Big Records.

Driven by the warm sound of brass, March Forward marks the transition of the seasons as the death of winter is reborn into spring. The track features on NARC Magazine’s 11th Birthday compilation and sees twin brother duo Psy Ceiling and Dan Demon go through an emotive journey of loss and acceptance. Recognition of our own mortality and inner struggles is interspersed with an uplifting message which, ultimately, offers a sense of hope.

Produced by George Ruston, with guitar from Chris Shaw and live drums by Sam Reed.

Everywhere set to release new single “Man Up” on June 9

UK band Everywhere have announced their first 2017 offering in the form of new single "Man Up", currently available for streaming on Soundcloud. The official release to all digital stores including Spotify will happen on June 9.

Dressed up in an electro-pop suit, the new single sports funky basslines, analog synths, and last but not least, a feature by Swedish singer/songwriter Rebecca Nohr.

Beyond its casual first impression, the song dives into themes about unfulfilled expectations, dominant partners, and the pain stalking strives to live up to an old-fashioned idea of what it means to be a man. "We're currently working on an album, it's still early but hopefully it should be out this fall" -says the band.

At the end of last year, Everywhere released their critically praised sophomore EP "Fiction Act". The EP single "Some Other Dude" was featured on BBC Introducing in London and has received over a million streams on Spotify.
They made their first International appearance at the 2013 NME Awards in the UK, playing alongside Django Django and Palma Violets, and later went on to support the Kaiser Chiefs and headline Notting Hill Arts Club in London.

Empathy Test is London-based electronic music duo Isaac Howlett (vocals) and Adam Relf (production). Currently performing their unique brand of emotive, ‘80s tinged synth pop across Europe with the help of Christina Lopez (drums) and Jacob Ferguson Lobo (keyboards), they have previously shared stages with everyone from The Japanese House to Bombay Bicycle Club. Following the success of ‘Seeing Stars’ and ‘By My Side’, Empathy Test are now set to drop new single 'Walk Right Out', the B-side to their latest single 'Bare My Soul'.

'Walk Right Out’ showcases a more stripped down, natural sound than the synth-heavy Empathy Test we are used to. Underpinned with swelling strings and piano stabs that wouldn’t sound amiss on a Joshua Tree-era U2 track, ‘Walk Right Out’ is carried along by stuttering drums and twinkling arpeggios. Its more delicate sound however, contrasts with its darker lyrical subject matter.

“Walk Right Out' is about domestic violence and how it effects a home. It's about rising above suffering - "think happy thoughts and let it go" - and of course, getting out of a negative situation.” - Empathy Test

With this release, Empathy Test once again demonstrates an effortless ability to create original and interesting compositions within a contemporary pop structure and combine them with meaningful lyrics and real emotion. Scheduled to arrive on the 21st April, ‘Bare My Soul’ kicks off a PledgeMusic campaign to fund the self-release of Empathy Test’s debut album on the 23rd June.
