In search of the perfect piece of veal to create yet another variation of the schnitzel, we've sent out a team to New York and followed up on a lead regarding taking us all the way to the vibe alleys of Kingston, Jamaica. The results are just as confusing as they are satisfying, since it turns out that heat, tranquillity as well as endless traffic jams are all factors accountable for a nice and tender slice of deliciousness. The island’s variation of uptempo deep tissue massages, as opposed to the confusingly more laidback style of the New York method both make for a great preparation, and are now served on both sides of this schnitzel before you. As always vinyl only and limited to a number that will most likely serve most of you, but probably not all of you.

A wonderful easy to the ear piece of music by Thds with their track Botânica off their upcoming EP Panacea. This is a pure sunset grooves track, summer time vibes, feel good music putting a big smile on your face. An absolute pleasure to premiere this track being released next week.

thds is a teamwork between Belgian-Portuguese multi-instrumentalist ‘Raoul’ and Belgian-Colombian vocalist-percussionist ‘Pierre’. Growing up in the same Jesuit forest school, they have developed a natural and resourceful brotherhood. Being influenced by their own cultural roots, they harmoniously combine acoustic and electronic music with organic world music.

The duet is obsessed with simplicity. Their musical will is to reduce superficiality to quintessence: life, nature, truth. Therefore they experiment around the themes of happiness, ecology and multiculturalism.

The two brothers started thds in April 2017 with a documentary video about their childhood city of ‘Luik’. They released ‘Peace Green’ in late 2017 on Lump Records (Chile-Mexico) and 'Walonreye' on Akumandra (NYC-Mexico) in 2018.

On this EP we have also 2 beautiful remixes from Lerr (Montenegro) & Rabih Rizk (Lebanon).

During a year like we've never seen before, the Sol Power Sound imprint reaches the proud milestone of its tenth release, "Lomé Connections in Hi-Fi" by the Sol Power All-Stars, because the music simply can't stop now.

To anchor the EP, the Sol Power All-Stars revisit some touchstones that have been featured on previous releases. Massama Dogo, of DC based band Elikeh, connects the capitol cities of Togo and the United States with "Va Sé Da", much as he did on the Sol Power All-Stars’ Djidjo Vide EP from 2016. Elikeh guitarist Frank Martins (who got his start with legendary 1970s Nigerian psych rock bands) propels the slinky afro groove while the LA-based Jungle Fire lends its infamous horn section to give the hook its punch.

The "Va Sé Dub" increases the slap factor as well as dancefloor tension, letting darker synths fill in the stripped down space as the Jungle Fire horns take center stage and stretch the jam all the way out.

The Jose Marquez mix of "Djidjo Vide" was previously only seen in digital form in 2016. This sturdy and deep take was just waiting in the wings to serve as the hidden muscle in the B1 slot of a physical release.

"Lift It Up Again" is a treat for adventurous selectors that closes the project. It carries the same DNA of the other tunes but pushes the vibe further left with dubbed out Caribbean samples, tripped out synths, and broken drum patterns.

PREMIERE: Sol Power All-Stars - Va Sé Da (feat. Elikeh)

Depending on whom you ask, Matthew Dear is a DJ, a dance-music producer, an experimental pop artist, a bandleader. He was the founding artist on both Ghostly International and its dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound. He’s had remixes commissioned by The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service, and Chemical Brothers; he’s made mixes for the Fabric mix series and Get Physical’s Body Language. He maintains four aliases (Audion, False, Jabberjaw, and Matthew Dear), each with its own style and distinct visual identity. He straddles multiple musical worlds and belongs to none—and he’s just hitting his stride.
