Julián Sommer, or better known as “ZØMMER”, has been an avid music enthusiast since an early age. Iconic bands like The Beatles, Queen & The Rolling Stones were introduced to Zømmer at the age of 6 by his father. Hearing this beautiful yet outdated music for the early 2000s was important for Zømmer’s musical passion. He found an escape to a better mental space in these tracks, and they paved the way for the artist he is today. At the age of 13 was when Zømmer first started becoming passionate about the electronic music realm. Being raised down the road of an incredible local festival like Ultra made it hard to not be infected. Industry titans such as Martin Garrix, Calvin Harris, Zedd and Avicii influenced Zømmer positively. The first electronic music track he fell in love with was “Animals” by Martin Garrix, released in 2014. Up until he was 18, Zømmer was obsessed with rap. However, after listening to countless hours of rap, Zømmer realized that rap was not a genre that was well-aligned with his values. After an incredible first semester at FSU, Zømmer rediscovered his passion for electronic music and started attending concerts at the university. 

But everything changed when Zømmer attended EDC Orlando in 2019. He had been to Ultra earlier that year but it didn’t compare to EDC. The people, atmosphere, and most of all the music really took Zømmer by storm. He became mesmerized with continuous sound & rhythm, and this is where the idea of making his own was born. But not through producing, rather through DJing. The urge to create his own mixes persisted through the next year and a half, which prompted him to buy his own controller. 

After mixing for the first time on his own board, Zømmer knew he was different. He had already used his friends’ controller, which gave him a head start, but it was the passion he had inside that truly made him the artist he is today. After only 5 months of DJing, Zømmer mixed at his fraternity’s pregame in FSU. Most DJs in the fraternity would stick to tracks girls would know, but not Zømmer. He only wanted to put people on his sound, and many liked it. After seeing how people danced to his tracks at that pregame, Zømmer was never the same. He realize he was addicted to that feeling of making people dance, and that feeling still carries him to this day. 

The first live show from Zømmer came as a B2B in November 2022 for House Hats Collective with the great Gavin Gone, a NY producer based at FSU. After that one night, many people had felt the work Zømmer was putting in after hours. Mixing endlessly at his apartment, Zømmer truly found flow in his sets. He focused on the most minuscule details, which set him apart from the rest of the DJs at FSU. 

2 years after that pregame, and Zømmer is still developing into the artist he knows he can become. He has opened for artists such as Joshwa, CID & Ranger Trucco, all in the span of 2 weeks. Brewing with passion, Zømmer is taking on production as a new challenge to redefine industry standards.
