This realisation is only one of a potential 10^311 unique performances which would take 10^307 years to hear in full

Nomi died from AIDS aged 39 and Purcell suffered an even more premature end around 35.  I include Dryden's words here, because they parallel both Nomi's impending agony and Purcell's (possible) cause of death (long exposure to the cold after getting locked out.)

Walking home in the early hours I saw a young guy who didn't look very well so I talked to him for a few minutes and he had the saddest eyes. I can still see them. He assured me he was okay and as I continued walking the opening of Cyndi Lauper's song True Colours started looping in my head.
