Hailing from West London, Matthew conceptualised the idea of One Man in the spring of 2014, when he found him self immersed in the endless possibilities of his looping station. By accessing the trinity of himself, guitar and loop station Matthew utilised this as a way of meditation, a tool to reach out to a elevated state of mind. Struck by a realisation that he could create an expansive yet emotional soundscape through a mixture of acoustic and electronic means, Matthew soon wanted to share his experience with everyone. “My sound is to explore the limitations that can be made with this process by using interesting techniques and effects to create new sounds. However I try to make music outside of these limitations as well to have as versatile yet coherent sound to avoid becoming a novelty” described by Matthew One Man. 
After wowing the hometown crowds in early 2016, Matthew soon embarked onto a string of live dates known as the “Couch Surfing Open Mic Tour”. The tour consisted of Matthew playing key open mic slots in Brighton, Bournemouth, Nottingham and London. The success of the tour inspired Matthew to record and release his first EP Lo-Fi Ambient in mid 2016. Recorded only in single takes in a shed based in Matthew’s back garden, he was able to capture the energy and passion of his live performances. “It’s all about the journey and finding ways to surprise people. I want the audience to feel a series of emotions and to lose themselves in the music” as described by Matthew One Man. 
Upping the ante in 2017, Matthew performed at a collection of festivals across the UK including Basingstoke Live, Small World and Gladestonebury. Achieving wide success during the festival season, he was asked to play a set for the prestigious Sofar Sounds in London. Matthew also decided to take One Man to the next level but collaborating with singer songwriter Ben Denny Mo, who featured on tracks such as “Cantonese Love” and “Let Me Be Blind”. The addition of vocals added a new and exciting dynamic to an already progressive and passionate act. Looking back on how far Matthew has come, from honing his craft in his back garden shed to creating music for film, releasing an EP and touring across the UK. Matthew One Man has big ambitions for 2018. Progressing at an exponential rate, Matthew is proud to announce a video premiere and UK tour for Summer 2018.
