Opening from a loose and organic groove into full on end of the night drama, 'Ostinato' combines Meyer's trademark production values with an ecstatic, hands in the air disco vibe. Pushing towards a teasing break, the casual stomp of the kick finally returns, after a light sprinkling of melodic magic.

Ostinato (Patlac Remix)
Fellow townsman and cohort, Patlac turns in a delightful remix, concentrating on a more reduced palette of sounds, but still high in power and drama.

Phoenix (feat. Christopher Groove)
To complete the EP, Matthias also offers us 'Phoenix' - an even more dream-inducing trip, winding together submerged, stretched out strings and hypnotic padded synths in a snaking journey perfect for the early morning.

Get Physical is in its tenth year; and up to its 200th (Single) release. To celebrate, founders and owners M.A.N.D.Y. went to the studio in Brooklyn with their soulmate Jimmy Vallance; and what they came out with is nothing short of enchanting. 

'Twisted Sister' is a deep blend of driving percussion and beautiful basslines laced together by ambient elements floating throughout the track. The track itself is a perfect example for superior and modern sound design and will certainly find its way into various DJ bags.

'Superstitious' raises the kicks and adds various layers of pads to create the late night feeling we all know and love. The synths rise and fall, elevating the temperature and energy creating a heavy vibe that is sure to make you sweat.

BRAIDS are one of my favourite bands, so when I had the chance to work with them I jumped on it. The vocals were the starting point, which I layered and used to generate a general feeling also in fitting with the lyrics, which then defined how I built the rest of the tracks around them. The first one from the EP is "Pleasures", for which I wanted to make something positive and warming, with nice straightforward drums and nothing too harsh in terms of builds and drops, just a delicate flow to give a pleasurable listening experience, hopefully!

Max Cooper Feat. BRAIDS - Pleasures

The concept for this one is about our nature as deterministic biological machines, unable to escape from our natural responses and behaviour finely tuned by millions of years of evolution, and now quite out of sync with the modern world we live in. The lyrics "I can't stop it" were the starting point for the concept, and I attempted to create a robotic-like sequences from chopped BRAIDS vocals to further present the idea.

Two more points to note, this one comes with an amazing remix from Ghosting Season, which I recommend you check out straight away! And also this track is available in interactive music video App form for iPhone and iPad on the App store!

"Amygdala" amazes by its sheer musicality, deepness, and its  ethereal sound design; it’s a kaleidoscope of a great variety of soundscapes where you keep discovering new nuances even after listening to it a thousand times. Nobody else could unite artists like Caribou and Dirk von Lotzow, Hildegard Knef and Mathew Dear, Ada and Milosh in such an organic way and on one and the same record as Koze did. There’s never been anything like it.

He weaves new garments around the a capella parts of his guests, garments that only he can tailor, and that’s how the album, for all the diversity of its artists, sounds consistently homogeneous and in the true style of Kosi Kos. It’s all about “the courage to dare”, about letting voices resonate undisguised in all their authentic peculiarity.  About creating  truthfulness.

How much can you cut out, when does the flame die down? On the other hand, under which circumstances could it even burn for ever?

The album, which in large parts has been composed in a Spanish fishing village, starts off with Balinese gamelan sounds from which a relaxed discoid bass peels off, caressed by mystic backwards basslines, balafon resonances and slide guitar chords. You can hear the ceaseless chirping, twittering and cheeping from all the treetops of Koze's exotic jungle.

Here at OFF we are very proud to welcome a very exciting new collaboration team including one of the fastest growing acts on the scene in the last couple of years.
 
Mexican wonder-team Climbers, already praised for massive releases on the likes of Get Physical, Culprit and Electronique, team up with London's own Silky (My Favourite Robot, Nurvous) and Barber (Faceless Recs) to put together a solid EP  surely destined to have room in everyone's set this summer.
 
"Frozen" shows their signature sound in full capacity... Deep disco groove with a bouncy phat bassline and sing along male vocals and lots of feeling in the synth and pad work, truly a musical delight.
 
On remix duty come Moda Black's Jaymo & Andy George, who turn "Frozen" in a more housed, dubbed peak hour track, keeping the deepness but pushing up the tempo with swirling pads and a killer swing groove.
 
"Mindset" is the second track, with another solid discofied groove & mind bending vocal work but with a darker techy approach, fat lead synths and a driving bassline make this one quite a trip. A great summer package indeed!
