Named after the weekly *Dubmission* parties at the storied E-Werks nightclub, the latest release from *Anja Schneider* relays the sounds of her earliest musical experiences in 1990s Berlin, where DJs like Kid Paul powered the party, and amplifies the techno spirit of the old electrical substation for broadcast worldwide.

Further transmissions are detected within the bubbling techno of “Revolution,” inspired by the political upheaval throughout the world, as well as shifts within the dance music scene itself, and on *“Can You Feel It,”* which features a spoken word dispatch by vocalist *Parsifal Marin* of Brussels Pony Club that continues the long house music tradition of club tunes about rave experiences.

From Mr. Finger to Miss Kittin to Seth Troxler, many of the most memorable cuts in house music history spell out, with spoken words, the experience of clubbing while in the club itself. Meta-musical moment found to be effective on the dance floor. So it goes with “Can You Feel It,” the latest by Anja Schneider to pay homage to the Chicago greats, following last spring’s Ron Hardy-inspired “Hey,” which became an instant fave when Anja dropped it at the always in demand Mobilee rooftop parties in Barcelona.

Expect the same response in summer 2014, when “Dubmission,” and flipsides “Can You Feel It” and “Revolution,” hit the ears of sun-kissed partiers worldwide.

Following his collaboration with Nicolas Jaar's Clown & Sunset label, Cruz has self-produced and self-recorded this landmark album. 

‘Prender el Alma’ is a new strain of Latin American music Cruz calls ‘Andes Step’. Influenced by new digital technology, blended with local influence, Cruz builds his tracks layer by layer, instrument by instrument, drum by drum, exploring local indigenous and Afro-cosmologies in a modern setting. 

From atmospheric opener ‘Sanacion’, the 10-track album journeys through short, sharp acoustic guitar riffs on ‘Puente Roto’ and the percussive ‘La Mirada’, to the electronic ‘Prender el Alma’. Down-beat ‘Equinoccio’ gets a vocal kick from Ecuadorian singer Huaira, ending with the blissful, lo-fi ‘Cocha Runa’ featuring Tanya Sanchez. ‘Prender el Alma’ ebbs and flows through a range of production of local sounds, feeling like a digital awakening.

This digital revolution is spreading through Latin America like wildfire, and nowhere is this more exciting than in the heart of the continent's bustling music scene, where Nicola Cruz is leading the way. 

Led by forward-thinking young producers and musicians, Ecuador is beginning to experience its own digital folklore revolution.  A new crop of producers and musicians are using homeland traditions and rhythms to build on a vibrant history of visual and sonic art, catapulting them into the 21st century.

ZZK are at the forefront of this burgeoning music scene. With artists such as Frikstailers, La Yegros, El Remolon and Chancha Via Circuito, they are defining a new and exciting Latin American music culture.

Kruse & Nuernberg have been a constant presence in the spotlight of the house scene for a while now. Growing their own style, always deep but intense and bouncy, flirting sometimes with soul, sometimes with techno and always with an overall feel of good vibes and energy translated directly into moving feet and rump shaking in dancefloors all around the globe.
They have released music on various labels such as Liebe*Detail, Rejected and Lazy Days (where they released an album in 2012). Not only have they produced remixes for Matthew Dear, Groove Armada and Dennis Ferrer, they’ve also had some of their tracks reworked by Wolf&Lamb, Spirit Catcher, Fred Everything, Tom Middleton and Vincenco.
’Yokohama Nights’ is the follow-up to their ’Lost N Free EP’ with Brolin which they released on Off. Their collaboration with Brolin marks a different step of K&N’s career taking their music to new, unknown more song-orientated territory. Brolin has been a favourite on Pitchfork, Dazed, The Guardian, Dummy, Pidgeon and Planes and Noisey. The UK producer and Phantom of the Opera fanatic (we can only assume by his choice of maskwear) sings in an eery, seductive mode over sinewy synths and a chattering, dry beat. Perhaps to add a little more definition to Brolin’s work, he’s named each of his available songs so far after different cities (’NYC’, ’Lisboa’ and ’Reykjavic’). On his collaboration track with Kruse & Nuernberg he sings about Yokohama Nights in Tokyo, Japan.

Nottingham’s Latmun arrives on Leftwing & Kody’s Lost Records with three energy fuelled house cuts, whilst Crosstown Rebel favourite Russ Yallop rounds out the EP on remix duties.

After an initial foray into production at the end of 2014, Latmun aka Joe Bradley’s sharp rise has garnered the attention and support of many including Lee Foss, Claptone, Darius Syrossian and Skream. The past year has seen the UK talent release on a host of distinguished labels such as VIVa (check out our premiere), El Row, Toolroom and Mar-T’s Wow! Recordings.

‘Cosmic’ kicks off the release with a selection of rumbling low end tones, stuttering vocal samples and reverberating sirens before our Debut Transmission today ‘Break it Down’ utilises engaging rhythm and evolving stabs to reveal a heady groove that’s packed full of swing. ‘Steez’ then utilises organic percussion and vocal whirrs to hold and maintain the attention of the floor, until Russ Yallop’s remix of ‘Cosmic’ reshapes the original, building on the crisp percussive elements and low-slung rhythms.

German producer collective Township Rebellion sign a string-heavy three tracker of deeply blissful tech house collectively titled Aviation.

Dolores kicks in with an immense groove, setting up a grandiose backdrop from the get go. Scintillating synths and spacious arrangements send the track into euphoric heights, while the punchy bassline triggers instant movement.

Lumen bears a melancholic loveliness, revealing a rumbling bass and soft, airy pads. What intensifies the mood, however, is a haunting chord progression paired with a fittingly ghostly vocal, giving the track a new dimension.

Next Life consists of a back and forth dynamic piece, making use of the 1993 classic spoken word vocal-poem “Get Up”. Its upbeat and looming style adds a sense of impending doom, amping the track’s dance appeal.

Since it‘s inception in 2017, Anja Schneider’s Sous Music label has been forging a path as the main home for the Berlin-based tastemaker's own productions as well as providing a home to works by artists from the current vanguard of house and techno. Most recent releases have contained contributions from Mella Dee,Fort Romeau, Madben and Markus Suckut, illustrating Schneider's continued passion for explorations within a diverse stylistic palette at the cutting edge of the scene.   

'No One Knows' sets the tone for this vibrant two-tracker. Laying a heavy resounding groove against a backdrop of dark moody melodies, punctuated with the ominous spoken vocal, the track builds purposefully then breaks out into a fierce crowd-rousing rave stab crescendo.

'Future State' continues the retro inspired theme as Schneider experiments with combinations of classic Detroit feels and raw warehouse vibes. The result is an explosion of personality as elegant chords weave a melancholic spell ahead of an eruption of unashamed euphoria.

For all of Matthias Tanzmann’s achievements, the future is showing even further excitement and evolutionary growth. He is known as a global leader of the Tech House scene and is synonymous with Moon Harbour, his influential and soon-to-be 25-year-old record label that has already put out over 100 vinyl releases and more than 200 digital tracks. Like Matthias who first broke through as a DJ at the end of the 1990s, it constantly evolves, adapts and leads the scene from the front. 

Both he and Moon Harbour have stayed true to the signature sound that first stood him apart. They never fail to bring new ideas to the dance floor and constantly evolve with the culture. Along the way, there have been countless seminal moments. From his early residency at Leipzig’s cult Distillery Club to his first releases on Steve Bug’s Dessous label and Freude Am Tanzen in 1998 and 1999 via the infamous Moon Harbour showcases at major events including Miami Music Week, Amsterdam Dance Event, Barcelona’s 'Off Sonar' and the leading clubs of Ibiza over the last 20 years. Furthermore he is an integral collaborative member of the super group, Better Lost Than Stupid, alongside Davide Squillace and Martin Buttrich. This ground-breaking trio performs all over the world from London, Ibiza, Miami to Dubai. Together they released the acclaimed full length album Wild Slide and accompanying remix album. 

Whenever he plays, Matthias locks his global audience into his winding and hypnotic grooves for hours on end, always ramping up the pressure and keeping dancers on their toes. He has consistently performed as a resident for almost 15 years at Ibiza's wildest and the most cutting-edge Circoloco party at DC10. He also plays in demand back-to-back sets with partner in crime Davide Squillace and is regarded as one of the favourite players at the infamous ANTS events at Ushuaia Ibiza. In between those regular gigs and picking up several DJ Award nominations, he is on a constant tour of the world's most celebrated clubs and events from Elrow to Solid Grooves to Music On. 

Founded in 2000 and followed by sub-label Cargo Edition in 2006, Moon Harbour Recordings has been a vehicle for much of his music over the years, though it has also been responsible for bringing through plenty of next-generation talents. Matthias Tanzmann has served up three solo albums on his own label - Restless in 2008, Momentum in 2016 and the far-reaching Round And Round album in 2019. Each one shows how he brings colour and narrative to his music through the careful layering of percussion and the teasing out of deft sound designs to make for moments of real dance floor drama. Whether working solo or in collaboration with the likes of Steve Bug, Black Circle or Daniel Stefanik, the key for Matthias is to never stop evolving, asking questions and exploring new ground. Furthermore as a keen contributor to the industry and passing on to the new generation, Matthias shared his vast knowledge with a unique production masterclass in collaboration with Mixmasters in Ibiza in 2023.

As a remixer, Matthias also brings an in-demand signature sound for the likes of Jamie Jones, Dennis Cruz, Moby or Booka Shada. His Remixes 2002-2012 compilation showcased his adeptness and adaptability, and he has further cemented his legacy as a definitive DJ with seminal mix CDs for revered series like Cavo Paradiso Mykonos in 2010, Circoloco in 2008 and 2011, fabric London in 2012, and several times for Moon Harbour.

What started as an obsessive hobby back in Leipzig became a globe-trotting profession. Importantly, though, Matthias Tanzmann has always retained the sense of fun and inquisition that motivated him back then. That shows in the tracks he continues to skillfully craft, whether deep and moody for cozy backrooms, or more raw and jacked up for the main room. From his sets to his productions via the music he A&Rs for Moon Harbour, Matthias Tanzmann blends a deep understanding of dance music dynamics with a burning desire to keep things moving forward.
