For their first ever double-LP outing Razor-N-Tape presents POOLS, with a sun-drenched and laid-back collection of tunes called Innertubes. POOLS, the moniker of Los Angeles duo Thee Mike Bee and DJ Morsecode, craft a sound that conjures up the easy going swagger and soulful grit of the left-most coast. The first two sides of original versions read like an album, perfect for a lazy Sunday rooftop BBQ with beers, bros and blunts, (although no doubt some of these gems will find their way into DJs' warm-up and boom-bap sets). Sides C & D elevate the juncture to dance floor level, with smooth and varied remixes from RNT stalwarts Luvless and DJ Vas, plus label newcomers thatmanmonkz and Junktion.

Ever since the debut, “Communication EP” which also marked our 50th release, Alexander Lay-Far has a special place in the Local Talk family. Since then things have been going well with plenty more releases, tours, the launch of his label In-Beat-Ween Music plus a new full length album done. With so much things on the go we’re of course very happy to welcome Lay-Far back and with him this time, two UK house legends the needs little introduction, Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris. Together the trio produced an EP that embraces the charms of both disco and house and we think it hits on every level.

Felipe Gordon’s Mosaico Andino is a sound testimony that both challenges and reinvigorates the burgeoning Colombian House Music movement. His statement is built on resonances inspired by other decades, the cold streets of Bogotá and a messy youth. It's not surprising when we hear pianos and classic acid house lines paired with jazz samples and funky basslines. His ability to mix these complex sounds seamlessly into his own club music has made him a renowned and prolific producer.

Nashville's dusty funkateers Magic In Threes return to RNT Reserve with a triptych of low-strung grooves, each complimented by a superlative remix. Chupa Cabra, a sweet soulful joint, is reimagined as a devilishly pulsating and funky burner by RNT mainstays @justsayfouk on their remix. Parisian @patchworks takes the 70s-cop-show funk of Work Tapes straight to Nigeria with a beautifully crafted highlife remix. Finally there's Come On Down, reminiscent of classic Donald Byrd in the Larry Mizell days, which is beefed up and readied for the dance floor by analog wizard @lay-far. A lovely package for listening, or bumping!

Frenchman Ludovic Llorca (also known as Art of Tones) returned with quite a bang almost 2 years ago after substantial hiatus when he dropped his broken beat, nu jazz and neo soul laiden "The Garden" album on Must Have Jazz imprint. Comes as no surprise that albums of such caliber usually get some nice rework packages. One 12’’ remix package already came out a year ago and featured such artists as Cuthead, Souleance, S3A and Rim Laurens on the remix duties. Now the time has come for Montreal’s very own Fred Everything to cast some magic spells on Llorca’s track “Wonder Why” from the same “The Garden” album. In order to make a rework package even more punchy, Fred has joined forces with Chris Todd aka Hot Toddy, one of the masterminds behind legendary Crazy P band. Often times it’s really tough to outshine the original composition, but seems like this time around both Fred Everything and Hot Toddy are giving it a decent run for its money.

Bolting Bits are very happy to premiere Fred’s “Extended Space Edit” version today.  A good deal of electro funky grooviness from the original track can be felt in Fred’s take. This version is not drifting too far away from the original vibe as even the tempo of both tracks are pretty similar. It’s just that Fred managed to add some extra loops, delays and reverbs on the soul-penetrating vocal and extend this emanation of Curtis Mayfield to a joint which adds extra 2 minutes of sleazy listening pleasure (when compared to the original). Coupled with more uptempo cosmic funk version from Hot Toddy on the flip side, this well-crafted remix package will surely find it’s way to the minds, hearts and hands of all those who are into quality spaced-out goodness. Already out on black gold courtesy of Fred’s “Lazy Days” label, so be quick and order yours now in your favorite record shop!
