This clap is creeping directly into your legs. No choice - we got you. Second by second the voice, the baseline, the synth - everything is getting darker and bigger. With "Ada" our dutch genius Arjuna Schiks is back. Proved on dancefloors all over the world, we can say, this track won’t get out of your mind and your body. With Jonas Saalbach we have a great remixer on board, who knows how to handle dark sounds and bring them to a new and open dimension. The main melody from „Ada“ comes back wrapped in break beats.

"Muda Esprit" is filled with friendly rhythms and more power for a summer night. Beatamines developed a fresh and easy remix of this typical Schiks-production. The claps are warm and light footed, the melody is catchy and bright. The remix is more metalic and the groove gets wilder. You’ll find yourself dancing on a beach into an endless night.

Come back into the club. "Navitas" picks you up and tells you a story under soft lights, with your feet back on a cold floor of stones and your mind far away. It is a melodious trip with harder breaks and less heat. We finish with "Hyphen" as bonus - only available for those who know where to find good stuff!

Switching it up from the bouncier, jazzier style that characterizes Ringer's work under his given name, Black Suede strips down the soul to a darker, harder groove, weaving dancefloor narratives that confront our innermost desires and fears. From the heavily swung stomp and vocal chops of "Connect Like 2 Ways" and the skittering arpeggios and percolations of "Stimulus (Dead)," to the dystopian booty-house masterpiece that is "7713GH" and the droning and cavernous dirge of "Purgatory," it is clear this is the work of an immensely talented artist who will continue to defy categorization and keep us wondering what the future will bring.

If you click the soundcloud player below you can hear a whole heap of what the Ivy Lab trio did when they went into the studio to remix Mefjus' 'Blame You.' The track forms part of the cunningly named Mef:Lab EP which will be released exclusively on vinyl and digital this Friday (27th March) through the Critical store and Beatport. The other track on the 12" is yep, you guessed it, Mefjus remixing Ivy Lab and their track 'Sunday Crunk' making a packaged out of a duo of cuts that have reportedly been shelling down the Critical raves since their creation.

TUFF WAX is proud to announce the launch of TUFF TRAX - our new free singles club with a 'white label' vibe, bringing you rarities, bootlegs, odds and sods and more on a monthly basis. 

First up, a special piece of music which for a long time I wasn't sure what to do with. Here's an incredible remix that our friend Ewan Robertson aka Offshore did for me last year. This was originally planned to be included on 'When U Stop Feeling Like A Weirdo & Become A Threat' along with the original. We had spoken back and forth about putting it online but never found the time to just master it and get it out there. After Ewan's sad passing & having spoken to his brother Neil, it just seemed like the right thing to do to give it away for all to enjoy.

Ewan was a real inspiration to us from day one, being a local guy who was a real success story in music and the arts. Despite us barely knowing each other when we first started chatting, he was so approachable and always took time out of his schedule to give us feedback and advice on our sometimes iffy early productions. We loved to hang out with him when he came home to visit his folks and we all miss him a lot. RIP mate.
