Acquainted with the Night

I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain—and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height,
One luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right. 
I have been one acquainted with the night.

Trois minutes pleines de légèreté dans une période totalement folle et extrêmement pesante. 
Alors que nous aspirons tous à une tranquillité et une paix durables
dans un monde qui se remets avec peine d'une pandémie meurtrière 
et éreintante, certains ont décidé de nous emmener vers encore 
plus de folie destructive. 
Une pensée très émue pour les peuples qui paient un lourd tribut 
de la démence des hommes.

Three minutes full of lightness in a totally crazy period and
extremely heavy.
As we all yearn for lasting tranquility and peace
in a world struggling to recover from a deadly pandemic
and exhausting, some have decided to take us to still
no more destructive madness.
A very moved thought for the peoples who pay a heavy price for the
dementia of men.

Layten Kramer, singer, songwriter and musician from Canmore in Alberta, Canada enters the Nice Guys family with a single called ‘Why Am I So Tired’. The artist drawn towards creating psychedelic folk with a western influence delivers here a sensible song to which anyone can connect with. This ballad offers a soothing melody made of a light guitar strumming that contrasts with the anxiety expressed in the lyrics of this piece meant to exorcise through music the artists’ demons as well as ours.

There is good and evil in each of us. We see this every day, looking inside ourselves, into our heart, into our soul, into our inner mirrors. Sometimes we see good there, but sometimes evil.  I want to dedicate this track to all the good people who gave their lives in this eternal war. In a sense, this track is a requiem for the passing World, as I knew it.
