Diskomo Oblast - 421 - Electronic Explorations

Enfant Terrible is a Dutch independent platform for music and was founded in 2004. The focus is on electronic / experimental (pop) music in styles such as elektro-wave, (post-)techno and ambient.

Enfant Terrible was one of the first to start to give recognition and attention to the pioneers of minimal electronics / proto-elektro / avant-garde pop / experimental pop from the early 1980's. Next to that it is one of the few labels in this field of music that truly invests in the development of new talents in this music tradition. Records like Trumpett Sounds (Enfant02, 2005) and Electronic Renaissance (Enfant04, 2006) have for been in a large part responsible for the revival of the styles mentioned above... and considered cult classics today...
In 2012 the Gooiland Elektro label was founded for dance floor orientated music: contemporary music in the traditions of early European techno, EBM and elektro music... and beyond. The Vrystaete series started in 2014 and is a label with a focus on folklore, psychedelic and lo-fi sounds.

In short, Enfant Terrible is a source for independent culture. This through the record labels, the special selected records in the webshop and the live events.

Out next will be a new Monocorpse EP and an EP by The Untitled, both on Gooiland Elektro and featured in this mix. At the same time the debut 7 inch by R A D K O will be released. This is a cold wave duo from Italy. And, on Vrystaete there will be an album by Bebe Fang. A lo-fi duo that blends psychedelic music with touches of folklore into a ritual and occult experience.

Last time I was in Brasil I was given the great honour to play at D.Edge on Sunday morning after playing for Technoroute in the afternoon on Saturday. 

It's a fantastic club which I have been to many times over the years. I have played there once before with Chris Lib back to back a long time ago. 

The order of the day at D.Edge is low BPM techno, modern, minimal whatever you call it, basically it's an after hours so it's just not the hard fast stuff.  I was asked to play under the name Henry Cullen to make it clear it would be this kind of sound. 

It was 3am, the place was packed and the vibe was already laid down by Stefano from D.Edge. I hadn't had much sleep for 3 days I had come direct from LA to party with all my mates in Brasil, there may be the odd mistake I honestly can't remember it's a 3 hour set.

So this is me adapting to their sound as best I could.

Wir durften die liebe Johanna aka Patajana vor einiger Zeit auf dem Goulash Disko in Kroatien kennenlernen, wo sie zusammen mit ihrer Taka Tuka Crew die Solar Stage aus dem Sand meiselte. Man trifft nur selten auf solch sympathische Gemüter, und nach ein paar Schnäpsen an der Bar war klar, wir müssen uns alle unbedingt bald wieder auf dem Distant Grounds in Griechenland sehen. 
Gesagt, getan, Patajana, die Frohnatur, besuchte uns dann auch gleich im darauffolgenden Sommer in Velika, wo sie in unserem UFO ein Bomben-Set ablieferte. Natürlich freut es uns dann umso mehr, dass wir sie nun auch zu einem UFO Podcast überreden konnten. 

Mit ihrem DG UFO Set zaubert sie uns ein nostalgisch warmes Gefühl in den Bauch und ein süßes Lächeln ins Gesicht. Die schönen Erinnerungen an die gemeinsamen Sommer mit Freunden in Griechenland und Kroatien leben auf. Man spürt den Sand zwischen den Füßen und den salzigen Geschmack des Meeres im Mund. Die Seele baumelt und tanzt zur Musik, verschwitzte Umarmungen am Strand kühlen die Meute ab. Die Sonne scheint, auch im Winter.
