His sets come as a combination of carefully selected heavy vinyl lashing and technical precision, which will remain both in your memory and legs. Many, to include colleagues in the business, find him one of the finest in the vinyl techno industry.

1/ Who are you ? What do you do?
I’m Paul Porteix, producing on modular system and also skating since 15 years. In parallel, I’m the manager of a textile printing shop for professionals and privates.

2/ If you were a movie character, who would you like to be?
Bernard Blier to play the kitchen scene in ‘Les Tontons Flingueurs’. 
‘Don't touch the grisbi, bitch!’
 
3/ If music wouldn’t exist, which job would you like to do?
Definitely my job as a graphic designer and textile printer, the continuity of my studies.

4/ The naughty / improbable anecdote during a gig?
The hottest and naughty: SPECTRUM. One of my first gigs was in Ibiza in a very intimist club. After 20 minutes playing, a well-drunk guy standing next to me and starts having fun with the buttons of the Xone… I said nothing at first. But he comes back. I look at him quite badly and ask to stop and let me play. Later in the night, he said he is a DJ and blamed me for not playing enough with the mix table. Having a hundred of buttons in my system to manage, I found the situation memorable. A Genius !

Pfirter’s lockstep drum patterns construct a hypnotic tale that reverberates with intense metallic synths into an expansive dark room sound with the Endless EP. Through My Window starts with hollow syncopated bass driven by steady kicks. The low end and tight rhythm causes the synth pads to gasp for air in Last Breath. The repetitive chord stabs through the discordant ambiences while the percussion rumbles on with Endless. Certain is an expansive techno track that churns with machine-like precision. The chaotic synths and modulated metallic sounds hold ground with the hard kicks in Release.

Instalment 33 of our FWP Series is a special vinyl only mix from Newcastle prodigy, HANNAY.

HANNAY is a producer/DJ from Newcastle upon Tyne and co-founder of Raw Material, with his first release on Zeca Records just this month, he  aims to push out fast paced, hard, driving techno. 

Back in May, he released a free Intermittent Signals EP which was the first step to moving into his new style of no nonsense underground techno, followed by a fresh re-work of Vollan's track, Systematic.

As co-founder of Raw Material, HANNAY and his good friend Adam are taking the Newcastle based event to the next level, creating a label for hard underground techno. The Raw Material project was founded in 2019 saw its launch event with Manchester’s Rudosa as headline.
