A Side kicks off with „Le Terrible“ a dynamic and powerful monster of a techno track which pumps up your adrenaline with its pounding bass drum and hypnotic built ups. Gut Feeling!

B1: „Concept C“ is a strong track in which terence fixmer works his production magic with more experimental elements such as drone sounds and his ragged and slightly distorted signature bass. Nonetheless creating a high energy level tune ready to be unleashed on the dancefloor.

B2: Last with the vinyl version „Dance like Paranoid (Marcel Dettmann Remix)“. Marcel Dettmann‘s remix wins you over by its carefully arranged melody and drum pattern which creates a melancholic and timeless rave anthem. Bliss!

Digitally the release is accompanied by „Le Terrible (Terence Fixmer Tool)“ captivating the essential sound scapes of the original.

A Terence Fixmer Le Terrible

A great philosopher (Samuel Johnson, not Ebeneezer Goode) once wrote… “our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks”. While it would be a stretch to suggest the Drumcode artist roster are closet philosophy fans, once one begins to unravel the tale that led to Jel Ford remixing the 2012 Alan Fitzpatrick hit ‘For An Endless Night’ and it is impossible to escape the unexpected enterprise and spirit of surprise that are at the heart of this exciting collaboration. 

As fans of Adam Beyer’s label will testify, the two Drumcode names have more in common than just a label stable, they also share common ground with the peak-time melodic sound that has delivered many of the labels most memorable output. Ford being a much more recent addition than Fitzpatrick, whose history with the seminal Swedish imprint stretches back to 2009, however Ford’s history within techno goes back even further having released multiple EP’s through the early noughties on vintage UK techno labels including Dave Angel’s Rotation Records, Billy Nasty’s Tortured Records, Primate Recordings and Ford’s own Jericho imprint. 

It is within this shared passion for uplifting synths and big room melodies that the ‘unexpected spark’ of creativity that led to Ford remixing Fitzpatrick can be found. An long-time admirer of Fitzpatrick’s work, Ford had developed an idea for his alternative version and secretly worked on the remix long before any discussion of the project had taken place. Once given the draft version, Fitzpatrick immediately endorsed the remix, excited to have an updated version to breath new life into what had become a familiar staple of his sets for the past two years. Parts were swapped and the end result being the barnstorming end-of-night monster presented here. A track that will be familiar with many having been the subject of much social-media furor since it first surfaced back in Autumn 2014.

Back at our mammoth Stay True Scotland broadcast earlier this month, one track came real close to bringing The Caves' roof down during Nina Kraviz's powerhouse headline set. "I Wanna Go Bang" very nearly executed its titular statement – well, if the song was more about wrecking balls and less about...oh, never mind.

The vocals that stalk the track, so wholly devoid of humanity, rub up against razor-sharp claps and serious bounce in the subs. It's weighty warehouse techno of the highest order, set to devastate dark basements and big tents alike throughout the year. Simply put: Icelandic producer Bjarki has delivered a bomb.

Having soundtracked the summer with his Spectre EP on Defected offshoot DTFD, Dutch producer Mulder looks to warm our wintery floors with his much anticipated return to rejected, for the first time since his 2012 smash ’Natural High’, with the Colours EP.

Mulder's sound palette is over flowing with warm tones and rich golden sounds, all evident on the title track. Its big, bold and funky bassline is paired with an equally dashing melody that engages the listener, and dancer, before opening out into a dreamy break and then pulling back as the beat drops and colours flow again.

Aeolus on the flip allows us to slip back into the astral realm with its warm undercurrent of bass and angelic keys. Rim shots and snares pierce through and yet never disturb or distract from the calming groove and almost otherworldy feel of this number.
