This track is about having a walk on a nice sunny day in the countryside, all is well and good, until you accidentally fall off a cliff. We chose the title in Deutsch due to the kick focused poundingness rhythmically.

It was a fun track as I decided I'd let loose, and you might notice, particularly towards the end it gets pretty loose! But luckily Tom's beautiful 5 bar piano riff is there to anchor things at either end, and hopefully save you from the death by cliff (you might notice it's a pain to mix with those 5 bar loops though).

So a bit of background - Tom Hodge is a great pianist and composer who I met recently, and we've been working on lots of interesting things. This is the most extreme in terms of the noise levels really, we've done some nice stuff too, as we're not planning on starting a death metal band just yet.

Lot's more to hear from this collaboration with the release out on Monday 28th on Fields + an amazing remix from Petrels of the A-side track (Fragments of Self) + an amazing video for the A-side by Nick Cobby, which we're all really excited about!

French composer Worakls finds his way back to the Hungry Music imprint, after recently releasing the “Adagio For Square” smash hit on Pete Tong’s FFRR Records. Worakls is currently breaking new ground with his trademark sound - fusing live musical elements with cutting edge electronic music production skills. His latest adventure is named “Question Réponse”, a dramatic piece of modern dance music, featuring blaring horns, an incredible romantic string section as well as arpeggiated synth layers to provide enormous drive. The thick rolling bassline and thumping groove glue together this masterpiece in perfect style. 

On the flip side resides the equally breathtaking “From Now On” piece. Worakls focuses on a marching & moody feel, before breaking the track down, to only feature the gorgeously crafted strings and horns. He once again brings together the classical and dance worlds in an inimitable way, so they can flourish on dancefloors worldwide as well as everywhere else!

Magic Panda has been doing some great stuff in recent years, so when he sent me over his album to consider for remixes I immediately found a couple of tracks I had to work with. The problem was I couldn't decide which one to remix, so I decided to remix both tracks into one. This is the result, containing parts from two different tracks, combined into a single remix. Out today on Tigerbeat6!

Magic Panda - Distant Places - Max Cooper Remix (clip)

For this remix they asked for something heavy, so I tried to make something nice and straight and rhythmically focused on the kick, with some distortion and big spacious noise, with a touch of melody to deliver my influence on the mix. It's a dancefloor track, and sounds best when you play it obscenely loud!

Release date is on Monday 3rd December, and I think it will also be available on vinyl 12"

Rob Clouth is one of my favourite producers out there at the moment, if you've heard any of my sets recently then you will have heard his Vaetxh stuff in there, the glitchy super-detailed madness! So when he turned himself to making an EP for Traum I jumped on the opportunity to get involved with a remix.

His methods and style are very original, so it was quite a difficult remix to make, the track just didn't want to fit into a normal techno format! I ended up going for a really heavy shuffle on the drums and trying to make the track a little more dancefloor in it's arrangement, but I wanted to try and keep the approach of the original too so I introduced a lot of complexity into the drums, as Rob said, it's like a lattice of details. So here it is, I hope you like it, and if you're going to do one thing this year, then give the rest of the EP a good listen, in my opinion it's the best release of the year in this genre, properly amazing stuff from Rob Clouth.

I had a lot of fun working on this remix, mainly because Marc and Ken provided some great parts to work with. I messed around with chopping up the main riff so that it plays different versions out of each channel to give an interesting left/right effect, every so often hitting the same pattern on both channels and suddenly jumping to the middle as a result. Then it disintegrates and recombines in new form during the break before finally reaching the original riff on the main drop....I've been playing it out a lot, seems to do the job nicely in the clubs....all about the bassline as often is the way with my stuff!

We welcome Ryan Davis, an artist who should have released with us a long time ago, since his music is very close to what Traum has released over the period of 12 years.
Ryan is great musician and totally dedicated to the melodic side of dance music, with compositional skill and courage that is rare in dance music today. Ryan has recorded for various labels but keeps a low profile for himself which makes him a true candidate for Traum also in the future.
The opening track “Roads” is a track of sheer extravagance. It combines different musical genres in in a very skillful way and makes an unmistakable statement towards an artistic composition.
You will find so many influences going on here that it is hard to pin down weather it is a romantic or cinematic track or even a strong club epic. It works on all levels and that is a quality Ryan Davis has cultivated over a long period.
Lush and deep  passages alternate with energetic ones, using hi tech technology to make it a firework or rather a serpentine of delicate stunts altogether. “Loophole” is wise enough to dedicate itself to a more track like piece of music.
But please do not make judgements too quick... in the course of it’s development it attracts colourful, melodic elements and takes them in to a never-ending beat.
Step by step Ryan Davis adds long-armed synth stretches and the lushness of “fragile” electronic music. “Sideways”, the third track is by far the most “free minded spirit” on the release.
Again equally beautifully crafted and refurbished to feel fresh and new as all of these tracks... Davis here suggest rather than dedicates images that seem to drown in a ”see of sound”.
This includes “slow motion” or “stand still” passages and a general “fantastic” approach rather than a „club head turner“. Roland M. Dills remix is bassline monster of a muscular beat track that puts him next to artists such as Radioslave & Dettmann. New Traum artist from the UK Morris Cowan has taken on “Sideways” and instantly felt he could do a interpretation it in his style. The result is a tight new interpretation based on an arrangement which takes in the coolness of dub step but also pays tribute to the seriousness of the original.
We think Morris Cowan has done great and have signed him for a full length album on Traum´s new imprint Zaubernuss!
