Patriotyzm jest ideą/konceptem, trudnym do zdefiniowania, a może problem tkwił już w samej mojej chęci jego zdefiniowania. Przeszedł długą drogę, aż stał się tym, czym jest dzisiaj, ale czym w ogóle jest? Patriotyzm stał się tak obły, cliche i niejasny, że nie potrafię znaleźć odpowiedzi na to pytanie.
Patriotyzm został całkowicie zawłaszczony przez środowiska prawicowo-konserwatywne, które mają pełną kontrolę nad jego formą. Praktykowanie patriotyzmu "może" mieć miejsce tylko w określonych kontekstach. Ta właśnie ekskluzywna definicja patriotyzmu (która często jest ładnie opakowanym na*jonalizmem) i stworzenie podziału my/oni, dobrzy/źli zrodziło we mnie wielką ojkofobie.
Przełomem było dla mnie odkrycie, że ludzie praktykują go jednak na inne sposoby. Artystxami, którzy dalx mi najwięcej do myślenia byłx Siksa, Maria Peszek i Wixapol. Szukanie patriotyzmu poprzez ironię, absurd, podważanie "powagi" jego symboli czy patrzenie na niego z dystansu stało się dla mnie pomostem do innego rozumienia patriotyzmu.
Ten set, ten performance, moja patriotyczna spódnica, jak i cała estetyka, która temu towarzyszy, jest pełna groteski, ironii i uwypuklania tego, co najbardziej "polskie", definiowane przez moje queerowe spojrzenie, które odrzuca sztywne, poważne i często drętwe ramy konserwatywnych środowisk. Chciałam doprowadzić polskość do granic absurdu i dołożyć swoją małą cegiełkę do dalszego podważania status quo i otwierania patriotyzmu na inną, bardziej progresywną praktykę.
