Scottish producer Austin Ato collaborates with Jamaican reggae artist Brushy One String for this release on Defected Records, ‘Oh Mama’. The producer has been active under various guises for over a decade, recently releasing on Phonica White and Futureboogie as Austin Ato, as well as some very fine remixes for the likes of Balako and Folamour. ‘Oh Mama’ is a stripped back release, giving space to the folky qualities of Brushy One String’s voice alongside the warm acoustic tones of a double bass line. The Dub does away with the majority of the vocals, substituting saxophone and synths.

Influential British house DJ-producer Scott Diaz tees up a striking release that mixes the key ingredients of his career success to date more potently than ever. For Diaz, it’s all about soul, rawness and artistic integrity – about making real electronic music to move real people. As Life On The Outside exemplifies, that means connecting with music lovers across divides. This latest work reflects its creator’s feeling of not belonging to any one particular ‘house’ and of producing between genre lines as his head and heart instructs. Such honesty and openness is bang on for a world, today, where sounds continue to blur and anything is possible.

This extended EP is only the fifth release for Scott’s Brighton-based imprint Grand Plans since it opened for business in 2016. But that’s testament to the artist wanting a label that operates with true purpose and doesn’t just seek to make up the numbers. As the name suggests, Grand Plans is all about meaningful music-craft and big picture-thinking, and Life On The Outside is clearly the next, wave-making step on that journey. Here is a body of work set to outlast the regular electronic promo cycle - communicating the artist’s real feelings and emotions, and taking the listener on an altogether deeper, more profound dancefloor journey.

Opening cut Happiness Is The Truth provides compulsive early momentum, a slinky groove driven by swinging drums, snappy robo-key riffs, pert bassline and the slightest, expertly applied dash of UK garage. There is similar snap ‘n’ bounce to What You Do 2 Me, Diaz’s use of funky bottom-end and skippy, immaculately-programmed beats working brilliantly with those soulful keys and swirls of synth to create a suitably giddy, head-turning flow.
 
The album’s title track takes things deeper and plays to the career-long love Scott has had for jazzier, more introspective soundtracking. His smart interplay of synths, organs and gospel refrains across a subtle melody line is reflective yet uplifting, and delivers considerable emotional punch. I Once Was Lost, meanwhile, tingles spines and elevates minds by layering spiritual vocals (from the Amazing Grace hymn book), stirring strings and snatches of trumpet atop another fizzing hi-hat-led slice of house gorgeousness.

Song For Kelly treads tribal paths with deep swing and smoulder, a thoroughly hypnotic ride counterbalancing its muscular throb later on with the skilful introduction of delicate jazz key solos, piano play and xylophone loops. As the track’s vocal parts plead, this is truly eye-opening stuff. Heartbreaker, meanwhile, manages to be both moody and melancholic whilst soaring upon edgy synthesizers and dizzying vocal samples - an appropriately intense nod to the turmoil of love lost. EP closer Girlfriend is an elegant, upbeat finale, working piano and percussion around its 4-4 framework to fine effect with, as we’ve come to expect, buckets of feeling.

Back in February we invited Dukwa over from Florence to come stay with us in Glasgow and write some music. The time spent locked away in the studio was similar to this social distancing we're dealing with at the moment actually... and coincidently we came up with a track that in retrospect, we thought was pretty apt for these strange times we are working through...

2013 is set to be an incredible year for Ali Love. The London-based producer and vocalist has recently inked a deal with the legendary Crosstown Rebels label and is currently putting the finishing touches to a new album (the follow up to 2010’s Love Harder). The first track to be taken from the album is 'Emperor', which features additional vocals from Kali. The single will be available on 12" and download and comes backed with remixes from Waze & Odyssey and Maceo Plex.

‘Emperor’ comes on the back of a creative purple patch for Ali Love. As a member of both Hot Natured (with Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and Luca C) and Infinity Ink (with Luca C Love has recently been part of two of the biggest club tracks of the last twelve months in 'Benediction' and 'Infinity'. This upward trajectory is set to continue with a Hot Natured making their debut live appearances with two headline shows at London's 5000 capacity Brixton Academy, and debut Hot Natured LP set for release later this year. 

Ali Love’s new album will be released later in 2013 on Crosstown Rebels. As one of the UK’s finest electronic songwriters and vocalists, 2013 is set to see Ali deliver on all the potential he’s always promised, and receive the recognition he deserves.

Since the Nicolas Jaar remix of Kasper ́s cover version of Heaven back in 2009, Kasper Bjørke has always curated his remixes with a steady hand and a strong sense of who is the right producer to transform his music into something else - which not only contributes to his original but also adds a different flavor. Strong acts like Marvin & Guy, Gerd Janson, Mano Le Tough, Michael Mayer, Rebolledo, Superpitcher and many more have all made memorable interpretations of Kasper’s work through these years - and now its time for an impressive and brand new batch of remixes: A double Remix EP, once again with a carefully selected and diverse list of amazing contemporary electronic artists. 
Prior to the two remixes packages for Part A and Part B the outstanding Tensnake Remix of Seabird will be released in April. 
“Luckily Tensnake was already a fan of the original version of Seabird by Alessi Brothers”, says Bjørke “so when we asked him to remix my cover version (made in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of my last cover version, of the Rolling Stones track “Heaven”) thankfully he said yes right away! I’m amazed that he managed to turn it into a full-blown disco party anthem, which I never would have succeeded with myself. I hope his version will make Seabird fly to distant shores!” Nothing Gold Can Stay Part A + Part B were released on hfn music in October and November 2019.

Breda born DJ and producer Mattisou, born in 2000, started playing the guitar age 11. Shortly after, he began producing electronic music and gained experience over the years in various genres. Mattisou developed his passion for deep house when fellow DJ/producer and former classmate Dani Pana introduced him to the underground house scene. They still keep in touch on a regular basis to exchange their knowledge about music.

Funky electronic sounds combined with mellow synths on top of grooving drums and some guitar-inspired melodies form the base of his style.

His music didn’t stay unnoticed, which in 2020 resulted in his debut EP called ‘Glow In The Dark’ on Airtime Records.
