Two definitive dancefloor powers collide with some dark, space, psych-out grooves. Don’t worry, there’s some melody going on here. A serious electronic feel too. The deep vibe of early acid house minimalism is abundant as well. Just listen, and all shall be revealed.

As for the artists…? Well, old school meets new school. And the credits and associations of these two are so extensive, well, it’s almost embarrassing if you don’t know them.

DANIEL AVERY: The top of the class of the new breed. A resident DJ at Fabric. Started producing music under the name stopmakingme. Now signed to Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound under his own name. Remixes for The 2 Bears, Django Django, The Horrors, Mickey Moonlight, Metronomy, DFA 1979, In Flagranti, Black Devil Disco Club. Chosen as Andrew Weatherall’s One to Watch for Time Out. Andrew said “he makes gimmick-free machine-funk of the highest order. There were times in 2011 when part of my set was pretty much an Avery mega-mix, and I sense that those mega-mixes will only get longer in 2012.”

THE DEADSTOCK 33s: AKA Justin Robertson: old school pedigree at its finest. Legendary Manchester DJ appearing on the scene in the early 90s with at clubs Spice and Most Excellent. Cited by The Chemical Brothers as their “mentor”. Producer and remixer under several monikors, most notably Lionrock. This current project of Justin’s has had critically-acclaimed remixes for Justice, 2 Bears, Erol Alkan, Boysnoize, Stopmakingme, The Mystery Jets, Shadowdancer, and Steve Mason.

‘Nuff said.

BARNT: Remixer of “Magnetic”. After turning all sorts of heads this year with releases on Comeme and Magazine, Barnt turns in an utterly hypnotic, psychedelic reworking of Magnetic for the dancefloor (available on the full release). LISTEN.

Matt Moroder has the perfect surname to be involved in the disco scene and was behind one of our favourite releases last year, ‘Secret Secret’, the first release on his own vinyl-only Little Leaf imprint. It was a slow-mo version of a Bowie track looped and looped on chunky drums with the vocal kicking in after some time. A hypnotic effective dancefloor jam (thanks Sleazy Beats) that came in a sleeve that showed love and care. Check it if you haven’t yet. Little Leaf 002 is out towards the end of this month with one side being a remix of a Shuggie Otis track by Moroder himself with the flip being a track by Erobique that uses samples from the late great Arthur Russell.
