In Mexica mythology the Yoalteuctin or the Lords of the Night are the nine deities that rule a particular night. These gods were cyclical, of which each deity resurfaced every nine nights. The Mayan calendar also has nine lords of the night although their names are not identified.

The Lords of the Night are:

Xiuhtecuhtli (♂), god of fire, lord of time.

Tezcatlipoca (♂), god of providence, darkness and the invisible, lord of the night, ruler of the North.
