【BIOGRAPHY】
the mornings are a Tokyo based 4-piece avant-hardcore band. Formed in 2003 by university colleagues, their musical style has shifted over the years, encompassing sounds ranging from math rock, post-hardcore and dub influences, to a more no/new wave, minimal and experimental approach. Their current sound can be characterized as a meticulous discordant sound ensemble of complex guitar, harsh rave synth, hip-hop like vocals and irregular time signatures. While always maintaining a strong pop sensibility and an emphasis on danceability, they continue to explore the cutting edge of music.  

Starting their career in live venues of Tokyo, the band accomplished to self-release several demo CD/Rs and touring the U.S before officially releasing:

•	2007-MAR  1st official press EP: NENG NENG 
•	2008-SEP   Split album: ARTLESSNOTE+the mornings
•	2011-JAN   1st  full length Album: SAVE THE MORNINGS!

With the release of their first album “SAVE THE MORNINGS!”, the mornings begin to gain media attention in the Japanese music scene and has been continuously widening their activity throughout Japan.

Reflecting their eclectic musical taste, over the years the mornings has become recognized as a band that shares stages with a wide variety of acts.  From indie/alternative bands to idols, to club musicians to hip-hop acts, they can exist in various genres, while at the same time they cannot belong to one. Not only have they actively hosted and support organizing mixed genre events, but have also been asked to provide music for various compilation albums. Their music can be found in “TOKYO NEW WAVE”, compiled by Victor Entertainment, punk rock legends Dead Kennedys tribute album “Get Drunk More Fuck" (VOID COMMUNITY), one of Japan’s most promising and leading hip-hop/ track maker label SUBENOANA’s compilation “Hello vol.2” and more.

【バイオグラフィー】
2003年上智大学のバンドサークルにて結成。2005年、自主的にUSAツアーを敢行。都内各地で自主企画を連発しながら、DEAD KENNEDYS公認トリビュートアルバム『More Drunk Fuck』、Fragment主宰ヒップホップレーベル術ノ穴コンピ『Hello! vol.2』、オワリカラのタカハシヒョウリ・Victor Entertainment監修『TOKYO NEW WAVE 2010』など、幅広いジャンルのコンピレーションCDにも参加。2011年1月には初のフルアルバム『SAVE THE MORNINGS!』をTAKE A SHOWER RECORDSからリリースした。またDIYフェス「東京BOREDOM」の運営にも携わっている。どこにでも属せてどこにも属せないポジションで、精力的に活動中。

2014年サンダンス映画祭で全米オタクの注目を集めたネクラ女子映画「Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter」(監督：デヴィッド・ゼルナー、主演：菊地凛子)にて使用された”Mechanic Nonsense”を含む2ndアルバム。
The track “Mechanic Nonsense” on this new album also appears in the Sundance award-winning 2014 film “Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter” (directed by David and Nathan Zellner; starring Rinko Kikuchi).

ヴォーカル/シンセ担当Xirohの宅録楽曲から生まれた東京のバンド。結成後すぐにJapanTimes誌の「2012年に見るべき新人バンド5選」に選ばれ、2013年発売の1stアルバムは海外メディアよりDavid Lynchの映画に出てくる楽隊のようだ、新時代のVELVET'S チルドレン、セクシーなCAN等と評され話題に。同年行われたMOMUS, 嶺川貴子とのライブでは、その落ち着いた美しいライブアクトで幅広い層のオーディエンスの注目を集める。2014年公開のアメリカ映画「Kumiko,The Treasure Hunter」では楽曲提供＆出演。ヴォーカルのXirohは現代音楽家としてヨーロッパツアー、Flaming lipsのメンバーとの共作、Ogre You Assholeのアルバムへの参加、ガールズファンクバンドFat Fox FunclubのPV出演など、引っ張りだこだ。
Vocalist and synth player Xiroh started Buddy Girl & Mechanic as a solo project in Tokyo until she was joined by Peelander-Z's guitarist Tetsuya Hayakawa, rhythm guitarist Takashi Masubuchi, and drummer Kenta Gunji. Their debut album was featured as one of the best records of 2013 by the Japan Times and the Guardian. The group has also been acclaimed for their imaginative performances with other acts such as MOMUS and Takako Minekawa. In addition, Buddy Girl & Mechanic contributed music—and a cameo—to the Sundance award-winning 2014 film “Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter”. Vocalist Xiroh also collaborates with other artists, notably having written music with a member of the Flaming Lips, performed on an Ogre You Asshole album, and she appeared in a music video of Fat Fox Funclub.
