Mattski is a righteous sea-breeze of evocative, hook-filled, sometimes foot-stomping, sometimes reflective tunes. Proudly original, his music stomps, hollers, grooves and cajoles from a deep and stark sense of place and myriad questions about tomorrow.
It’s a trip to the Mississippi delta via Jamaica, through the rich jungle of acoustic funk, around the culs-de-sac of punky self sufficiency and folk ethos; planted in salt water, run through Mallee scrub and left to mature taking in the many moods of the Southern Ocean.
Mattski is profoundly influenced by a sense of place – from the sand between our toes to dusty inland highways and the lapping of an ocean on the beach, to a dark corner of a bar or a morning café table. It’s music of contradictions – sophisticated lyrics, solos, riffs and hooks fused with deep grooves and a whole lot of dirt under the fingernails!
Debut release Ramshackle Beach is filled with questions, evocative notes, slide guitar growls and sweet acoustic melodies with a range of textures and moods; from the mellow to that of the Wounded Elk Blues.
The theme is refined on Horizon For A Friend, which is filled with hooks, dynamics, thoughtful lines and a train-like rootsy momentum. The guitar playing is at times sweet and at times searing; with deep resonator stomp blues meeting sweet solo reggae and flat out acoustic wizardry that has wowed audiences in bars, cafes, festivals, surf clubs and more!
To some, it’s “kick arse blues”. To some, it’s “really slaying it up there”. To some, it’s “amazing songs…you wrote those?” To some, it’s “really grooving”. To many, it’s easy to dance to. To all, it’s one man, a voice full of soul, righteous lyrics, three guitars, a home-made stomp box, home-made tunes and a whole lot of live power…just waiting to be let loose.

Spencer Lee, born and raised in the small town of Fort Scott, Kansas. Growing up in a musical family where both parents attended college on vocal scholarships, Spencer was born with an abundance of raw talent and natural charisma whose unique sound is likened to Terence Trent D'Arby meets Maroon 5. His influences include artists like Justin Timberlake, John Mayer and Gavin de Graw but he also finds inspiration from such legends as Elvis, Michael Jackson, James Taylor and Sam Cook. Successful at an early age, Spencer won numerous regional talent contests before he was even fifteen. In the short time since relocating to Los Angeles, Spencer has been developing his own sound and writing material for his debut release.

I dont belive in following rules when it comes to music do what feels right for you , just remember you created your work to sound the way you wanted it to sound.

After all there is all ways room for change, in life what is right today is, often wrong tomorrow. 

I am not what society tells me I must be can’t change the world and the world cant change me I am just a chilled musician who enjoys surfing.

Forcing your music on people will result in you being self generated thats not how music should work the idea is to reach people by your songs and lyrics not demand people to listen.

Celebrating one year since the Bandcamp-exclusive release of 'Let Beautiful In: Rewoven EP' the collection finally gets an official release on Shy Bairn Records.

The E.P. will be available across all major streaming platforms on 14.03.2025 a reimagined version of the well-received second EP brings together a mix of dark brooding Americana, jazz fusion, ambient beats, glitchy grooves, and Balearic chilled bliss. Each track has been remixed by friends, collaborators, and associates of the band.
