Today on Meta Moto premieres, Dalmata Daniel releases its third LP, Midnight Dancer, from Rapha, marking his return to the label after previous appearances in split and compilation series. Known for his intense acid sounds and dark, futuristic edge, Rapha elevates his craft in Midnight Dancer, featuring remixes by CT Kidobó and PRZ.

The title track, Midnight Dancer, delves into a hypnotic landscape of haunting echoes and distorted rhythms, with heavy basslines reverberating through deep, shadowy realms. PRZ’s remix preserves the track’s groove while adding a sleek, club-ready electro finish. Alongside his solo work, he is also known for his collaborative project Future City Punks with Traxion, showcasing his post-punk abilities. Unconfined to singular genres, Sam In Space will take you out of this world and back to earth through his exploration of music.

‘Dualities’ is an unsuspecting track; starting as a seemingly normal electro-disco song, the mood shifts to reveal a split narrative. With a steady beat and an ominous synth, it is the voice of a woman that guides you through the unknown. She declares, “If you are the sun, I am the stars”, pushing the listener into the cosmic order.

While we may not understand how the universe works, there is a silent curator who keeps it in balance. After picking your brain with ‘Dualities’, Sam In Space asks you to look further within. ‘Introspection’ is an ominous track that dissects the mind, with the distorted robot voice inducing a sense of sci-fi anxiety. You live your everyday life in a heightened sense of awareness; this track forces you to step back for a moment of reflection.

MIND, BODY, CONTROL

‘Descendant’ drags us back into a more tribal state. Returning to a more primitive sound, we hear the banging of drums and the sounds of the jungle over the menacing synths. The evolution of humanity is about “MIND, BODY, SOUL”. Music has always been used to show this progression, yet Sam In Space reveals the cyclical nature of time. No matter how far the world progresses, it is the raw sounds of the world that will continue to inspire us.

Rolling off the back of this EP are remixes by Max Jones, Rigopolar, and BadWolf. Max Jones takes on ‘Dualities’ by having the female vocalist act as a curator of the night. Her voice fades into the drums, luring you into the song. The synths feel like strobe lights, with the music rolling directly into the back of your head. ‘Introspection’ takes on a new perspective as Rigopolar taps into the minds of dystopian antagonists.

Motions of a classic club track

With the repetition of the robot voices and the steady beat, you walk amongst an army of robot terrorists while Rigopolar’s remix plays through the speakers. Rounding off the last remix for ‘Descendant’ is BadWolf, ending the EP on a strong dance note. In keeping with the primitiveness of the track, BadWolf makes you want to move like an animal. Taking you through false drops and changing beats, it embodies the motions of a classic club track.

The ‘Dualities’ EP will be released via Rigopolar’s Miami-based Tour De Infinite on all platforms on November 15th, 2024.

Hailing from Belarus, and based in Hanoi, Vietnam, producer and DJ Mishouju treats us with a project from overseas, filled with his signature broken electro sounds and deep hypnotizing 4-on-the-floor style that locks you into the dancefloor. “Memphis Electronic Inc.” is an inspired adventure into different sounds and genres like house, breaks, electro, dub & techno that is centered on Mishouju’s favorite hip-hop tunes growing up, mostly Memphis hip-hop.

“Mishy Oi” starts us off with a cheeky reinterpretation of the New York hip hop classic “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by Ol’ Dirty Bastard, with Mishouju injecting his signature style to a very familiar sample, creating a suspenseful build-up and worthy payoff thus, further enhancing an already ubiquitous song into a banger worthy of a club. Next up, “Beton Boots” is an emotional track that gives us a sentimental feeling of nostalgia, even if you aren’t familiar with the sampled “Cement Shoes” by DJ Spanish Fly, another Memphis hip-hop originator. "They Done, Fxxked Up” is a breaky rendition of Memphis legends Three 6 Mafia’s “Yeah, They Done Fucked Up”, using all kinds of percussion into delivering a hypnotic head nodder. Completing the project is a powerful remix of “Beton Boots” by Italian artist Lucretio. Filled with a filthy acid bassline and a driving kick, this remix is sure to rock your socks off.

French artist Bubs joins the Feinstoff roster with a fresh two-track release that taps into the best of Neo Italo, perfectly balancing retro flair with a fresh, modern edge.

The first track “Bubble Tea” llays down a punchy beat that slides into a catchy square-wave lead and juicy bassline, building up to a drop that's all about getting the floor moving. With ‘80s synth textures and a nod to ‘90s movements, it's nostalgic without losing that forward momentum.

In April 2023, Officium released eight immersive trip-hop tracks as their debut solo LP on Teenage Menopause. The album was warmly received across music communities with shared influences, leading to extensive play and broadcasts. Inspired by conversations with collaborators, Officium decided to invite friends and influences to reshape the tracks—scratching, grinding, trimming, delaying, or distorting them to create their own unique versions. Like the morning sun penetrating a Winter sky, a shimmering frost flecks the brightness of “Message to Nowhere”. The four tracker showcases the sound of Ruben Benabou’s Hyperstellar nom de plume, a sound that draws inspiration from sci-fi soundtracks and the warmer currents of electro. Refracted bleeps introduce the title piece, shorn beats cutting through glowing synthlines as the EP takes flight. Tight terse drum patterns are the launchpad from which melodies sail and swoop in “Words in a Void”, bittersweet strings and warbling pads bending and shifting above juddering basslines. From Sweden with Italo to Dresden with love. Stockholm's DJ City drops his first release on Dresden's Uncanny Valley with the COSMICOMICS EP, a 100% fun record
for all the senses, deeply inspired by Italo Calvino's iconic short story collection.

COSMICOMICS borrows its name from a collection of short stories written by Italian author Italo Calvino, first published in Italian in 1965. The stories have inspired DJ City to a recordthat aesthetically draws from 80s Italo Disco and 70s science fiction films. In the book, each
story is based on a scientific fact about the world and the cosmos whilst using fiction to askhow we understand it. Where Calvino's stories are comical and absurd, DJ City surrenders to the sublime and romantic and moves further into the metaphysical world that Calvino created
to come up with three energetic and melodic tracks bursting heavily with fantasy and drama.

Deeply rooted in dance music’s history, they shine with Hi-NRG-vibes, strict dancefloor commitment and little easter eggs like that Drexciya-reference in COSMICOMICS.

The cover of the record is a painting from 2020 by Swedish artist Jens Fänge called THE INN. We see a man in front of the entrance to a Mediterranean-style building and a woman in a window on the upper floor. The picture seems to have been broken up into several dimensions, and abstract details make it difficult for the viewer to know exactly what and when the scene is taking place. When shown in Shanghai, the painting was censored by
government agents and had to be taken down. A testament to the power of the image.

Perhaps it shows our main character, perhaps it shows us the author or the artist. Depending on who listens, who reads and who looks, a multitude of universes open.
