For the number 13 of the RICHMERCH (@richmerch) series, we invited the duo from Guadalajara, Mexico, Los Fugazzi (@los-fugazzi), to bring to the label something fresh for the dancefloor.

Two trax with a mixture of Electro + Disco Punk with New Beat & EBM are the answer to our request. "Unpunctual" is for the peak hours and "Not The One" for the afterhours.

This couple of hits got a refresh with the remixes from Geerra and Facets.

The "Geerra Mix" for "Unpunctual" turns the track more hypnotic with a little twist.

And the "Facets Remix" turns the track more punk and agressive with a delicate hardcore beat.

Once again, RICHMERCH is changing the rules.

Los Fugazzi - Unpunctual [Richmerch]

The Modern Disco scene has its heroes: Musicians, DJs, and producers who have dedicated themselves – especially since the beginning of the 2000s – to keep alive the flame of the original Disco Music through edits, remixes, or original cuts heavily influenced by the 1970s/1980s. Fred Berthet is one of these heroes. His massive output as DJ Steef has placed him amongst the most notable artists of the genre.

Now that the trippiness of the Cosmic Disco got blended with the euphoria of its Italo sister and the crudity of EBM, Industrial, and Post-Punk, Fred has been releasing solid darkness-infused material, having already appeared on vital labels such as Feines Tier, Numoment, Heimlich Musik, La Dame Noir, and Boite Music. He (finally) makes his debut on mighty Nein Records with a, yes, darkness infused single featuring Maria Fernanda on the vocals and remixes by Richard Sen and Tronik Youth (SXDNS050). Premiered here, the outstanding collaboration of the former.

Respected London-based DJ and producer Richard Sen brought “Mixteca” into his own world. He kept the backbone of Fred & Maria’s collaboration but ripped the retro-future aura, infused weirdness and acid instead, and delivered a more intricate and twisted version. What a bad boy!

PREMIERE: James Rod — Agave & Catana (Original Mix) [Mélopée Records]

The 'Sail We Must' EP by Irish producer Signa Rust draws inspiration from Alfos, reflecting a mutual appreciation for slower-paced sounds around the 100/110bpm mark. Crafted primarily with analog gear, it's a track that embodies hope and is dedicated to Signa's late father. The saying "fail we may, sail we must," an old fisherman's adage, resonates throughout the work, honoring his lifelong career in the industry. The opening track unfolds with a 303 and a uniquely twisted synth arp, then shifts gears with the introduction of strings, infusing the piece with a sense of hope and serene joy. '13.0 TeV' begins with the characteristic 808 percussion sounds, mingled with dubby samples that create a Rastafarian ambiance, followed closely by the 303's simmering acidity, before escalating with a distorted pad sequence. The EP concludes with Will Flisk's remix of '13.0 TeV'.

Premiere : Signa Rust - Sail We Must [Elephant Gait Music]

His unmistakable mix of cold currents and warm melodies has made Martin Matiske a regular here at Bordello A Parigi. Amore Galattico is the German artist’s third release with us, an intergalactic voyage with a synthesizer as a guide. The title piece is a bold, yet fragile, composition. Woven around slender drum patterns are flows and shifts, key changes and scaling notes where astral washes blend with romantic flourishes. Beats are bolstered and fortified by harmonic richness in “Cuore”, an analogue space opera of daring complexity and unsurpassable execution. Matiske’s twenty five years of experience are plain to hear in this quartet. His range and musical skill are coupled with an uncanny ability to balance contrasting tones. Glacial chords are buttressed by low juddering bass in “Heaven Knows”, the listener pulled ever skyward in this sublime work. The curtain fall maintains the cinematic and dramatic quality that underscores the EP. PREMIERE: Zweigeist - Wake Up (Keikee Remix) [Conexa Records]

Alongside his solo work, he is also known for his collaborative project Future City Punks with Traxion, showcasing his post-punk abilities. Unconfined to singular genres, Sam In Space will take you out of this world and back to earth through his exploration of music.

‘Dualities’ is an unsuspecting track; starting as a seemingly normal electro-disco song, the mood shifts to reveal a split narrative. With a steady beat and an ominous synth, it is the voice of a woman that guides you through the unknown. She declares, “If you are the sun, I am the stars”, pushing the listener into the cosmic order.

While we may not understand how the universe works, there is a silent curator who keeps it in balance. After picking your brain with ‘Dualities’, Sam In Space asks you to look further within. ‘Introspection’ is an ominous track that dissects the mind, with the distorted robot voice inducing a sense of sci-fi anxiety. You live your everyday life in a heightened sense of awareness; this track forces you to step back for a moment of reflection.

MIND, BODY, CONTROL

‘Descendant’ drags us back into a more tribal state. Returning to a more primitive sound, we hear the banging of drums and the sounds of the jungle over the menacing synths. The evolution of humanity is about “MIND, BODY, SOUL”. Music has always been used to show this progression, yet Sam In Space reveals the cyclical nature of time. No matter how far the world progresses, it is the raw sounds of the world that will continue to inspire us.

Rolling off the back of this EP are remixes by Max Jones, Rigopolar, and BadWolf. Max Jones takes on ‘Dualities’ by having the female vocalist act as a curator of the night. Her voice fades into the drums, luring you into the song. The synths feel like strobe lights, with the music rolling directly into the back of your head. ‘Introspection’ takes on a new perspective as Rigopolar taps into the minds of dystopian antagonists.

Motions of a classic club track

With the repetition of the robot voices and the steady beat, you walk amongst an army of robot terrorists while Rigopolar’s remix plays through the speakers. Rounding off the last remix for ‘Descendant’ is BadWolf, ending the EP on a strong dance note. In keeping with the primitiveness of the track, BadWolf makes you want to move like an animal. Taking you through false drops and changing beats, it embodies the motions of a classic club track.

The ‘Dualities’ EP will be released via Rigopolar’s Miami-based Tour De Infinite on all platforms on November 15th, 2024.

French artist Bubs joins the Feinstoff roster with a fresh two-track release that taps into the best of Neo Italo, perfectly balancing retro flair with a fresh, modern edge.

The first track “Bubble Tea” llays down a punchy beat that slides into a catchy square-wave lead and juicy bassline, building up to a drop that's all about getting the floor moving. With ‘80s synth textures and a nod to ‘90s movements, it's nostalgic without losing that forward momentum.

As the project spearheaded by Nicholas Church and Joseph Spencer, Casino Times has been putting out quality productions for close to a decade. Following releases on Needwant, Omena and their own Casino Edits, the duo debuts on Hamburg-based record label Mireia Records. Demonstrating their cunning yet natural and flowing sound over the course of two originals, the package features remixes by Filburt, Rigopolar and Conga Fever.

Leading the string of remixes is Mireia's own Conga Fever. Taking cues from Belgian New Beat while sounding unconditionally modern at the same time, Conga Fever has crafted a bona fide festival anthem.
