OLD SKOOL BACK TO 95

From listening to house, rave, breakbeat, jungle, hardcore, techno & trance throughout the 90's, it wasn't until speed garage found a regular place in my headphones and HiFi around 1996 that a focus on underground house & garage started to emerge.
Listening to Tuff Jam on Kiss FM, hearing friends such as Leighton H-Trax make mixtapes and spin garage tunes weekly were all big influences in finally pushing other genres to the wayside.  Discovering the sounds of Todd Edwards was a pivotal moment prompting the purchase of a pair of 1210s in the Millennium and a journey into vinyl quickly became an obsession.
Avidly collecting tracks I heard my friends play years earlier and religiously recording EZ shows for daily listening to and from work, the scene had started to split and a new bumpy nuskool garage sound emerge from 2001.  From here, I found close friends and producers alike across forums and pirate stations such as Freeze FM, Subjam and Hyperadio as a regular listener and at legendary events such as 4by4 and Z-Uncut.  
With a transition to CDJs and digital, uploading hundreds of oldskool garage vinyl to YouTube as ReleaseThaPressure in 2009 proved popular, although only approx 40 of the most popular remain due to a fit of pique.  The vinyl acquisition kept the postman on first name terms for years as my collection expanded, fuelling weekend long mix sessions with friends and infrequent gigs at a local pre-club bars.
Sporadically releasing mixes including the Garage Bass House series GBH Vol 1-8 on SoundCloud/Mixcloud up to 2015 before going full circle back to vinyl, I started posting uploads to Instagram in 2016. Here I found like-minded enthusiasts and connoisseurs starting to gather, all eager to talk and post about oldskool garage vinyl like forums from years before.  
Several thousand uploads, a few mixes here and there, and many hundreds of new additions to my vinyl archive later, you will find I am still happiest rifling through crates, chatting about unreleased gems and sending clips to mates of that tune I couldn't remember last week.

I grew up around music where my Dad and Brother were both in sound systems, I started messing around with music in 1994 and that's when I got my first set of Decks. A couple of guys from school and I set up a 'sound' called Thunderforce and we played Swing, Soul, Ragga and Jungle. We played at lots of house parties and venues - alongside the Heartless Crew on many occasions. In 1995 I got a chance to MC with DJ Fax on Rude FM 104.3 and alongside MC's Ranking and Spee. In that year I got a chance to work in Kid Andy's studio where I got to make my first Drum and Bass track that was released on the "Upfront Records" label. In 1996 Lady Legs introduced me to the new sound that was around, called 'Garage'. Freek was the main station that I listened to and of course I would always lock into the shows of Maddness and EZ. I was lucky that a mate of mine asked me to MC for him on his show on Mission FM, that was the great DJ Colin I. We built up a good show and fan base and alongside the Lady Legs we became the "Fantastic Three". I joined Vocal Fusion where I got advice from MC Creed and he put me in touch with PSG who introduced me to Eli. From here things moved very quickly up the ladder....Eli and I made our first track "Pump", which got signed to an underground record label. After that we did "It's not right" using the Whitney Houston vocals, which got playlisted on Kiss FM. All of this led us to quite a bit of remix work, In 2001 we were very lucky to work with Colour Girl to record "Mas Que Nada", which entered the National Top 40 music chart. We also released a mixed CD called "Garage Anthems Summer 2K". Then we collaborated with JJ who owns Southside Records to make the "Storm on the Southside" CD. Eli and I then started the "Marvelis" Records label that I'm currently running. You can check out some of our latest UK Garage releases on Bandcamp and on Spotify.
