Maurice Aymard & Gui Boratto - Home (Original Mix )

'Home' is the new single from Maurice Aymard and Gui Boratto, and is the first release to be taken from  Aymard's forthcoming debut album 'Between Stars'. An inspired collaboration between two of South 
America's leading electronic music producers, 'Home' is the perfect introduction to one of the most  sophisticated yet vibrant underground house albums of 2013. 
 
Released on Aymard's own Galaktika Records (Garnica, James Teej & more), 'Home' was recorded  during a flying visit to Barcelona by the Boratto, the Brazilian producer taxiing straight from the airport to 
Aymard's studio for an intense 24-hour session. The result is a dreamy slice of laid back, late-night  house music that floats along on a bed of languidly funky bass, soft pads and smoky keys. 
 
"I've known and been a huge fan of Gui for several years now. He released an EP on Galaktika way  back in 2007 and remixed my own track, 'Put Some For Jules' in 2010, so when I was recording this 
album I knew I had to get him on it somehow. 
 
Luckily despite his crazy schedule we managed to get him to Barcelona We didn't have much time, but  got straight to work in the studio and well... It's Gui, everything he touches is magic!"  – Maurice Aymard 
 
For the single release Aymard has also called upon the Berlin based British producer Jay Shepheard to  remix the track and the result is a stunning deep house workout from the man, whose own debut album 
'Home & Garden' was released to critical acclaim earlier this year. 
 
Since moving from Venezuela to Spain and launching Galaktika Records, Aymard has become an  integral part of the European house music scene. With releases on the likes of Berlinʼs Moodmusic,  Hamburgʼs Einmusika and Denmarkʼs Tic Tac Toe Records, and remix credits for artists such as Mario  Basanov, Compuphonic and Combo, Aymard has built a reputation for delivering quality underground 
house music that has seen him booked to play clubs around the world, from Tokyo to Berlin, Brazil to  Russia. 
 
More than two years in the making, 'Between Stars', Aymard's debut artist album has been a labour of  love for the Venezuelan. Recorded almost entirely live, Aymard travelled the world to collaborate with 
musicians and singers in Barcelona, Berlin, London and Venezuela who could help to bring his vision to  life.

In an age when anything that isn't packed full of buzzsaw bass and 'sick' drops gets labelled as Deep  House, 'Between Stars' is the real deal, and from the first bars of the albums opening (and title) track, 
'Between Stars' quickly establishes itself as something truly special, a 'house' album that not only works  as a coherent whole but sounds as good at home, by the poolside or in a club at 4am.  
 
If 'live' house albums have in the past had a tendency to verge on the polite, Aymard's skill as a  producer and experience as a DJ keeps things rooted in club culture and nearly every track off 'Between 
Stars' deserves to find its way into DJ sets over the coming months. Rather than smooth things out the  live instrumentation instead adds an energy to the tracks and the subtle touches, that the likes of 
guitarist David Rondón brings to 'El Final', lift the album up to another level altogether.

Live at Salvadiscos (1era parte)

Thrill of It label is always one worth checking for fans of lush house and tech music and for their next trick – following a fine EP from Acumen – they turn to Maurice Aymard & Pablo Sanchez for a hot new single that comes with fine remixes from Cosmic Cowboys and Snacks. 

The Venezuelan duo based in Barcelona of Maurice Aymard & Pablo Sanchez have long been coming up with the goods together on labels like Apersonal Music, whilst Maurice runs his own much loved Galaktika label releasing the likes of Gui Boratto. 

Their original ‘Drums In My Head’ sure is a deep and romantic bit of organic late night house. Nice warm drums and textured percussion set a nice groove, but then it’s the sombre piano notes, linger pads and lush chords that make this into such a lovely, jazz tinged delight. Spoken word snippets add to the atmosphere and overall it’s a most classy house affair. 

First to remix are German duo Snacks, and they flip the track into a more up-tempo but equally warm and jazzy affair with streaming pads, squirrelling synth lines and lots of late night, feel good colour that really makes it was into your heart. Lastly, Italian pair Cosmic Cowboys remix and flip the track into a bubbly, rubbery basslined thing with sad synths and infectious percussion. 

This is proper, well-constructed house music with a real heart and soul, as ever from the excellent Thrill of It label.

El Palmas – real name Maurice Aymard – is a Venezuelan DJ and selector, residing in Barcelona with a big task on his hands – in his own words, “the awakening of ancient gods of the tropics.” His “transcendental quest” has seen him spin steel wheels for over 19 years, endeavouring to recreate shamanic experiences in sound. He does this by establishing telluric connections through tropical trips that interlace world-spanning styles and genres: reggae, Arabic funk, dub, disco, bossa nova and African Heritage music. Live, El Palmas, with a penchant for analogue production, spins vinyl and digital rips from his own mammoth collection amassed world-over. Besides DJing, Aymard runs a label of the same name with a colourful roster of celebrated artists such as Daniel Grau, Acid Coco and Contento.
