The setting is Richmond, Va. The time is the summer of 2004, and I found myself falling to sleep while writing lyrics. Initially, the album started as just two songs I thought would be a nice birthday gift for someone I was at seeing at the time, who will go unnamed. However, after three months of writing and recording, I completed what would become my first album, Khardiology, an autobiographical work of intoxicated romantic tragedies, where I would find myself in the aftermath,  staggering piss and punch-drunk off poetry to make sense of it. Though sometimes wordy because I'm worried, the nuances and imperfections act as the perfect symbolism for my emotional injuries bleeding out through the beat-breaks and band-aids. And the truth is, I never wanted to put the record out.

Over the past ten years, my releases have been through projects from the bands I'm in, The MEM, and PhotoSynthesizers. However, as I release new music, I think it's essential to provide a timeline and contextualize my journey as an artist. Therefore, after 16 years, I've decided to make Khardiology available for a digital download.

Originally, Khardiology was released on July 24, 2004, with only 13 songs and in a short run of about 300 copies. Khardiology: Open Heart Surgery Redux contains three additional bonus tracks recorded a few months after the album's release fitting the familiar themes of headaches, heartbreaks, and beat-break-ups.

So, here it is, my first album, Khardiology: Open Heart Surgery Redux, with additional bonus tracks Faded. Nevus Reactions Live Studio Session and Stranded.

I used this titled " Smash The Picture" because it comes from one of my favorite Prince songs, "The Beautiful Ones." and I couldn't name it that, right? Ultimately, this song is a nostalgic glimpse of my Wonder Years in High School revolving around the silent crushes I had. I wrote this song somewhere around the late 90s/early 2000s, and I've always struggled to put this out because I never wanted to make anyone uncomfortable.
 
Please note that I still move from this same intention in releasing it now.

“Ants In The Antennas," is the first release from PhotoSynthesizers’ new project, The Worlds Fair. It’s a story about the group’s musical journey, told through the lens of the smallest being the strongest, often revered but not remembered.
 
The entire project, The World's Fair, was conceptualized during the midst of COVID, when the group was no longer able to produce and rehearse music in person and had to rely on file-sharing. The album's title is also a tribute to the history of The Worlds International Expos, a variety of worldwide exhibitions showcasing the achievements and the cultural advances of societies through arts, science, and technology. And within two global pandemics of COVID and the ongoing systematic racial injustices against black and brown people, we can only ask ourselves, what will be our advances to contribute toward a better future?
