JOY RIDE is a mix series that tears through the past, present and future of club music, building narratives through sound.

On the latest outing, the ghost of Ron Hardy has dropped in, bringing along a bag of stone cold classic cuts and a general disregard for convention on how a record should be played and heard. 

Disco can get a little frothy at times, so I wanted to make a mix that's tough but not too banging. I never got to hear Ron play, but I was a regular at Optimo in Glasgow for several years, and when I hear people describe nights at the Music Box I feel I can relate.

As well thinking carefully about the sounds (from Patrice Rushen to that very particular sonic palette of early 90s Strictly Rhythm to contemporary reworks of productions that have spilled from the club into popular consciousness) I have also tried to offer a modern take on a mixing style that dances on the edge of feasibility, choosing the exhilaration of a wild blend or an outrageous mood shift over the safe option...because to err is human, but please don't be boring. 

Screw your courage to the sticking place. Let's go.
