German Ricardo compone música electroacústica. A partir de 1995, Germán comenzó a estudiar composición con el maestro Blas Atehortúa y composición electroacústica con el maestro Roberto García Piedrahita. Aprendio a utilizar los sintetizadores y los programas musicales de computadora, trabajando como auxiliar docente en el laboratorio de información musical del Conservatorio y, con sus profesores, organizó el festival “La Primera Oreja”, un escenario de música electroacústica y videoarte con obras realizadas por profesores y estudiantes colombianos como Mauricio Bejarano, Juan Reyes, Olga Godoy y Luis Alejandro Olarte. 

En 1997, con tan solo 20 años, ganó el premio de composición del Ministerio de Cultura por su obra “Sol del Trópico” para soprano y ensamble, estrenada en la sala de conciertos de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango por el Ensamble CG, con su participación al piano.

Sus piezas électroacústicas, Meridiano, Impresiones y Estudio para Piano, composiciones realizadas en su estudio, fueron seleccionadas y presentadas en los auditorios Olav Roots, en las salas Tairona del Colombo-Americano y en la sala Moliere de la Alianza Francesa. Osorio fue compositor e intérprete del grupo de música improvisada y electroacústica de la Universidad Nacional, integrado por estudiantes de esta materia y transcriptor de partituras. También participó en un seminario de composición asistida por computadora con los profesores Camilo Rueda y Ricardo Escallón, y en el taller de composición impartido por la profesora Catalina Peralta.

En 2002, Osorio tomó otros rumbos, viaja a Francia y toma un curso de composición con el profesor Erik Tanguy. Se familiariza con la escena musical parisina, asiste a algunos eventos y conciertos en Ircam y en el Conservatorio de la Villette, entre otros. En 2004, viajó a Suiza y ofreció recitales como compositor e intérprete en el Teatro ABC de La-Chaux-de-Fonds y en el Liceum Club de Neuchâtel. Esto le brindó la oportunidad de aprender música improvisada y jazz con el pianista Clément Strahm; durante un concierto en el Bar King de Neuchâtel; y de tocar en un performance el sintetizador, junto al saxofonista Jérôme Correa. 

Actualmente en un pequeño estudio de sonido en Neuchâtel, reabre su camino a través de la composición electroacústica, acompañado del séptimo arte, otra de sus grandes pasiones: el cine.

Max Cooper is an electronic composer, multi-disciplinary artist, music label founder and former scientist who has carved out a unique space in music and visual art.

He holds a PhD in computational biology at the same time as being the first contemporary electronic musician to perform at the ancient Acropolis theatre in Athens and one of the first clutch of musicians to produce in Dolby Atmos.

Cooper has enquired for over 15 years through music, collaborations, and his label Mesh, to explore the intersections between the arts and sciences with installations, performances, immersive experiences, online media, music videos and live events.  Anchored throughout is his emotive approach, connecting how ideas and forms feel, in a manner accessible to us all. 
 
As an artist synonymous with the evolution of club culture, Cooper honed his craft as a DJ with a 10 year residency at legendary Midlands techno event Firefly where he formed a foundational relationship with Architecture Social Club, with whom he still collaborates on extravagant immersive installations.

"I want to encourage the acceptance of electronic music as an art form like any other. Bringing electronic music and abstract audio-visual projects into concert halls, museums and galleries is liberating - the art world opens up doors to communicate in ways that aren’t possible elsewhere."
  
Pivoting from computational biology to electronic music might not seem like the most natural career transition, but for Cooper the commonalities are obvious:
 
"In both fields, you're in a sense, free. Free from the limits of living systems, free from the limits of corporeal sound. The only constraints are in your mind."
