Essence Brown has decided to follow her dreams. Some call her Essence, Some call her Emonai, ALL know her as a Truth teller. Essence says, "sometimes the truth delivered raw and real is painful. Nothing personal, just the Truth." 
Essence started writing poetry as a child just to express her feelings. Out of that came a natural progression toward Spoken Word and Hip Hop performing at high school, at church, then at Central State University. 
Rapping was just a hobby, but Hip-Hop is in her Soul she says, "I have to do this!" Essence is working on her 1st CD, Essence of Hip Hop is coming soon.

I'm a fan of music and an artist. I fell in love with hip hop watching shows like Rap City growing up. I first sang in church and that was the first time I felt alive at around 6 years old. I wrote my first rap song at 9 and soon found that I loved to sing as well. I hid my singing talent for years until people like Drake showed that you could be yourself as an artist by singing and rapping. I learned how to be myself and it's taken years. I do R&B, Pop, and Southern rap, on my level in my way and these genres don't have to go together. It's nothing wrong with telling a woman how you feel.
