Enjoy the Bird's Ear View 2023 Top 11 Underground Dance Music Jams Countdown which originally aired on the program MixClub for DeepSpaceRadio.com on January 3, 2024.

Here we celebrate the finest Progressive House, Deep House, Trance & EDM of 2023. SoundCloud asks you for a main hashtag and all I could think of to sum up this unique mix show is "Sophisticated."  The tracks are so amazing and the talent of the Producers & DJs who created them is off the hook. Then you have the truly outstanding job here by Host & DJ MickeyTheMoocher. Plus I got off writing the script and vibe I wanted to create and you know my track curation is legendary of course.

Yet it was the rap group Public Enemy who warned:

"Now the bitch is in trouble
'Cause she thinks she's so-phisticated" 

But let's face it, this project is as advertised. Mickey's hosting skills took a star turn here as he expertly knew when to pipe in and out of the tracks. And in his  DJ role Mickey crushed. This mix is a work of art. It's got rhythm, beauty, emotion, skill, power and intelligence. Mickey's blends are out of this world. The time stamps below on the tracklist are good but they really don't do his blends justice. 

So the move is to listen for yourself and come up with your own interpretations of the songs and they way they connect. I could write out how wonderfully this mix has impacted me but you're better off doing the work and listening on your own. You'll be glad you did because this mix is truly special. 06R is a music producer based in Tokyo, Japan. He specializes in progressive house and trance breaks. He has released numerous works on labels such as Distinctive, Perfecto, Bonzai Progressive, and Nueva Digital. After working as an assistant A&R at Pineapple Digital, he came up with the idea for "sen-on Recordings" and "Moovment", and after two years of planning, he launched "sen-on Recordings". In January 2021, he also participated in the 1st anniversary compilation of the digital label "Zodiac13" and was ranked in Beatport's TOP 100. In Releases, they won first place in the electronica category.

The lofi nature of the drum samples pushed me to try a more R&B/lofi route than I'm used to. This became the backbone for the verses. Once I added the Wonderkind Piano in the chorus, I realized that this track needed Brodie's vocals to help push the vibe in more of a neo soul direction. I resampled her vocals and pitched them as if they were old soul samples, and the track really found its identity!

I've been using Analog Lab for a few years and especially love the warbly, warm, analog sounding synths as I don't have any hardware synths but love sounds with tons of character. The other samples were from Splice, Pigments and Slammer.
