Having worked close to a decade behind-the-scenes in the music industry has given SIFON (@sifon_greg) a strong deep sense of the connective tissue electronic music can provide for communities around the world. 

Originally from Barcelona, SIFON, real name Greg Menendez, spent a number of years in Berlin and London attuning their ears and lending their heart to the European music industry before relocating to Naarm/Melbourne end of 2022.

"For us, music presents a way to voice voices that speak beyond us in ways we cannot articulate. In this mix, the voice comes to you in many ways, from many directions and sometimes unexpected and tricky sources. We thought about "speaking in tongues", rapture, vertigo, doubled voices, demonic voices, angelic voices, disembodied voices, voices from unseen lips, voices from breathless throats, but also the voice that's in you right now."

'Chlorophyll' is the debut EP from Melbourne based alt-pop artist Max Lawrence.
The conceptual EP explores the process involved in healing; growing out of apathy and becoming comfortable in your own skin and ultimately re-connecting with the natural world and the people around you.

Produced by GOLDNOIR, the sonic landscape brandishes exalting synths and expressive textures mirroring the sounds of the natural world, creating a vivid universe to complement Max's warm vocal and sensual songwriting.

My first closing set, at the biggest party I've ever played. By turns apocalyptic and moody, sexy and upbeat, this set closed out the first proper edition of the wildly popular Melbourne queer party called Barba, after the dark months of Melbourne's intense second COVID lockdown. The crowd felt full of joy and relief at finally being on the dance floor again, while at the same time there was a strangely loveable collective awkwardness that came from being out of practice. I think this set captures some of that vibe.
