The UK based artist Faery (@freyacaldwell) is the third one to record a wonderful mix for our Herbarium mix series.
She worked with a lot of watery psychedelic textures forming an intriguing hypnotic vibe. Proper grooves support the whole captivating feeling of this episode.
We chose the plant 'Cyclamen Hederifolium' - a flower which blooms around autumn. The petals of this plant have wave-like shapes that strongly remind us of the watery atmosphere in Faery's journey. It grows best at shaded places where the strong colours of the blossoms glow even stronger. This links the deep atmosphere in combination with those subtle but well crafted sound design details of this mix to the flower in a beautiful way.

Time to share the 21st Herbarium episode with you, this time we warmly welcome our talented friend and artist @caldera-caldera from Brighton. He curated a fantastic journey between deep and subtle textures combined with delicate harmonic glimpses into other worlds.

Caldera chose the European Ash for his mix, here is why:
I chose Fraxinus excelsior since I always admired how the light shines through the leaves of those trees and it has always made me in awe of them. I've been fortunate enough to have been living opposite a little forest that consists of many Ash Trees, so it's been my studio view since moving here 9 years ago and a steady source of subtle inspiration. (The first track includes a field recording of this forest)
For this mix I tried to capture the sound and movement of this plant in the wind which is why I choose tracks that include long pads and reverberend sounds as well as music that has some kind of sprinkly patterns representing the more in depth movements and interplay of the many small leaves.

We know nothing about the newly emerging Fefe other than the fact that they hail from Down Under and, on this evidence, make classy club tackle. 'Trudd' is a supple, shapeshifting deep techno opener with sub-aquatic pads and churning rhythms. 'Bogged Under' gets more dark and heavy with drum pressure never letting up as spangled synths occupy the mind. 'Diddy's Rug' brings a lighter melodic touch with trippy patterns and hallucinogenic qualities for the afters then 'Fire Warden' is a double-time stepper with dub weight and urgent energy to make for another sophisticated offering from Danza Nativa.
