Sorcha Fox - Irish performance poet

Sorcha is a poet, actor and writer. She was Artist in Residence in The Dock in Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim Ireland in 2016, along with supporting the writing of these pieces, it is an ongoing project aimed at amplifying Traveller voices in the Northwest. 
Thanks to the UNESCO New Work Award, Sorcha wrote and performed Remember, a 35 minute poetic sequence with live original music by Dee Armstrong, Lughaidh Armstrong Mayock and Megan Lawlor, for Lingo: A Spoken Word Festival, in 2016.
Sorcha has been the recipient of an Irish Arts Council Bursary Award for her ongoing poetry project Who am Ireland? performed in Sligo, Lusaka, Zambia and Haverfordwest, Wales for the Manning Truthfest in support of Chelsea Manning. 
She was Theatre Artist in Residence at The Glens Centre, Manorhamilton with her project Who is Manorhamilton? She has worked with sculptor Jackie McKenna in Loughan House prison with the inmates there on The Mask Project, about identity. 
Sorcha studied Drama and Theatre studies at the Samuel Beckett Centre in Trinity College Dublin. She is co-director of Benbo Productions with Donal O’Kelly - Benbo won the Prix Europa in Berlin for their Radio production of Francisco in 2012. 
In 2015/16 Sorcha performed with Donal O’Kelly in his play Little Thing, Big Thing which won the Stage Award for Best Acting in Edinburgh and toured to New York and Australia. She won Best Actress Award at the 1st Irish Festival in New York in 2011 and 2015. 
She directed the Irish Theatre Award-nominated ‘Jimmy Joyced!’ and the Fringe First winning Fionnuala - both by Donal O'Kelly. She performed in The Cambria which toured the U.S and ran at The Irish Arts Center, New York in 2009 in rep with Frederick Douglass Now and in conjunction with The Classical Theatre of Harlem. The Cambria travelled to the Harare International Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe and Lusaka in Zambia. She directed and toured Jimmy Gralton’s Dancehall in 2011 and ’12 –with Benbo Productions.
She currently performs in Dublin soap Fair City and acts and storylines for Irish language soap Ros na Rún. 
She is a member of the team that organizes PalFest Ireland, an Irish arts festival in support of Palestine. 
She has just returned from Jenin Refugee Camp in the West Bank, Northern Palestine where she completed a week long course in Theatre and Cultural Resistance with The Freedom Theatre.
All of these tracks were recorded in Liberty Hall in 2016 as part of Lingo: A Spoken Word Festival. Also performing that night were Irish poet Sarah Clancy and Palestinian poet Rafael Ziadah - amazing poets.
