Somehow this managed to get deleted from my Soundcloud..  So I'm reuploading it.  Because its the original release version of the track.

A great collaboration between myself and a friend, he's the one you hear shredding on those guitar solos.  We originally were going to do a cover of the theme from escape from new york, but he got inspired and did a few things with the tune.  I also had an idea I wanted to try involving tempo and time signature change ups.  By the time I was done chopping up guitar parts and putting them all back together several times over, it was clear it was its own, separate thing.

Resin Sun is the current music project of Will and Cassandra Rusk, the married duo has been writing music together in various emanations for over 15 years. With Resin Sun, the pair has created a sound that they dubbed "Rivetwave", a high-energy mixture of industrial, dark synth, and post-punk. Mostly inspired by 80s and 90s bands such as Skinny Puppy, Chemlab, KMFDM, Soft Cell, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, early Ministry, and Sisters of Mercy. Cassandra and Will use Resin Sun to aspire to the dark substance that sustained many of us for so long, a now trace energy that's becoming harder and harder to capture in today's homogenized and pressure washed society.

Will has been a practicing musician since the age of 17 teaching himself to play guitar, bass, keyboards and eventually produce his own work. His vocals bring high energy and chaos into the mix in a style that calls back to Einstürzende Neubauten and Chemlab.

Cassandra is an untrained ethereal vocalist with a passion for singing from a young age. In addition to pulling us into the Aether, she contributes heavily to the synth arrangements and production of the songs. As well as creating all of the visual artwork and videos that accompany their Rivetwave sound.

I'm a nerd at heart, and that I think is at the center of my approach to producing music, and all radiates outward from there.  I try to imbue each track with something I love, be it from culture, personal experiences, people and friends that have made an impact on my life, I find if I do this that it helps anchor the song to whats closest to my heart, and form the overall theme of the song, and my albums and their various artwork that I release along with them..
Synth intstruments hold a special place in nostalgia for me, feelings I had when much younger, so i've found that synthwave is a great jumping off point for what my music sounds like, it's not REALLY synthwave, I carry on in my style another thing important to me, and thats just electronic music in general, I love hard kicks, sidechain compression keeps those kicks pumping up the energy.
