Hey music-loving friends, welcome back to The Karismatik Podkast! This is our 33rd episode, and for it we’ve got an upbeat house set for you by our wonderful guest @la-vondel. 
 
Faysal Nadif a.k.a. La Vondèl, made his first steps in music at the young age of 10. In order to to practice and perform his dance routines, he began creating his very own mixtapes by cutting and pasting cassettes.
 
By the age of 17 Faysal was performing in clubs as a freestyle dancer, and began experimenting with making Hip-Hop beats and Beatboxing. At the age of 21, a performance of the Wighnomy Brothers at Awakefest, inspired him to start producing electronic music. His goal was to have at least four hours of his own productions before performing live. Within just one year of setting this goal, La Vondèl had performed live in Berlin and all the major clubs in Amsterdam. 

For his set for The Karismatik, he aimed to bring grooves for positivity, even mixing in a few tracks of his own.

▌I How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
First, I listened to a few previous mixes on the United We Stream Soundcloud page. I wanted to create something unique to my style but also within the realm and style of the previous DJ's. Next, I went through my catalogue of music and put songs into sub-folders and of course added new releases as the time neared for my set to be due. My main inspiration was my love for music and the various styles of Techno I enjoy mixing. I stuck in some tracks that are very Afro influenced with the drum beats but for the most part stayed true to a mixture of melodic and industrial Techno. Unlike most of my sets this one does not feature a vocal mash-ups but there are some vocals that I enjoyed looping.


▌II How do you make use of technology?
All of my sets for this platform and others are all done live. Once I press play, what happens is pure instincts and my knowledge of the tracks. So I would say my use of technology when it comes to creating mixes is very simple. Monitors, decks, headphones, and of course my USB with the tracks. I don't use any effects machines or production equipment, so I try to layer and do mash-ups to create build ups and give the mixes textures. 


▌III What’s your favorite club and what’s your favorite festival - explain why!
My favourite club is Ushuaia...the open air vibe, the flyovers, it's a magical venue in a magical place.
My favourite festival is Movement Festival. That really doesn't need an explanation but the organic nature of the festival and pure love for Techno music of the attendees makes it just enjoyable. It's about nothing but the music!

... With his record on @impressberlin released in autumn 2020 he lands a kind of little hype. In November than, Taupe made the debut on his own imprint "Colours".  His "Vested EP" is characterized by a timeless sound that always sounds a bit like the Detroit of years gone by.  His sound is on the one hand modern and trend-setting, and yet humble and extremely original at the same time.  It is very nice to hear that, will find out.  Listen!

... She is it, who is by our side with a load of bassy warmth this winter. With her series @tension_event (streams and parties) she represents the technoid-subcultural side of the designated cultural capital Chemnitz. There is still some time until 2025, but Isa alias TØSCHE does not want to lose any and is preparing as best as possible. We think this commitment is terrific, not at least because we know how it feels like shaping the music and club scene in a city suspended between the provinces and the big cities.
