Blues is the foundation of the house.  That's the bedrock.  But there are many rooms in the house: Memphis soul, reggae, rock and roll.  Those closest to my heart and soul (Wilson Pickett, Albert King, Son House, Lowell George, Hendrix) have all been influential and  impeccable guides along my musical path.  When all is said and done, though, it's just me: a composite of my loves and influences.  I hope you enjoy the music.  

When my Montpelier, VT band, The Heckhounds, dissolved in 2015 and I moved to Massachusetts, I was band-less and left to my own devices for the time being.  I came across old recordings, online and elsewhere, of chain gangs singing, field hollers, preachers preaching and congregations moaning and wailing.  They fascinated me.  I began to layer instrumental tracks around these "found vocals" and created a set of hybrid songs, mixing old and new.  Except for some loops, I played all the instruments.  Eventually, I recorded three albums in what I refer to as my "Ghost" series: Voices of Ghosts (2014), Ghost Dance (2016), and Ghost Notes (2017).

After a few years of playing around others' voices, I wanted to get back to my own voice and songs, and I began working on the songs that would eventually become Trouble in Tubertown (2018).  I followed that, a year later, with  Hitchhiking on the Wrong Side of the Road (2019).  On both albums, I use drum loops but play all other instruments, even learning harmonica for the last album.  And while these albums differ from each other, both return me to my love of songwriting and of crafting and arranging my own songs.

I write pieces of music, not songs w/lyrics. My music is created from the heart by ear only-I have little formal training beyond 6 years of classical lessons ages 8-14 yrs old.
I channel this music spiritually. Each piece is meant to conjure a different visual in the listener's mind and "lock" them into a beautiful place while experiencing the music. As a piano demo in 1993 at Skyline Studio in NYC w/Rich Lamb producing-the music you are hearing is similar to an artist's sketch. IF I were to professionally record my music many other instruments would compliment the build out of each piece. Film makers have honored me using my music over the years. Tripping balls with Music since Day 1, and loving every minute of it! I make music for the movies in my head.

Back in 1992 a great friend of mine convinced me to try playing the Bass so I could join a cover band he was starting. One year later I had pushed the notion to him that copying was far less rewarding than doing it yourself, and we founded Primitive Reason.

To this day I’m still going strong with Primitive Reason, although I try and ‘complete’ my need for a varied musical diet with other projects, of which most are solo experiments.

Although I started with the Bass Guitar, I quickly moved on to experiment with other rhythmic languages, particularly percussion. Although I am from Madrid, Spain and born of Spanish parents, my first few years were spent in Angola where according to what I am told I became ‘hooked’ early on percussive music. Still today this is the most important feature in musical construction for me, and so obviously all the music I write has a strong rhythmic component.

I’ve been recording albums since 1995, and there are more than 50 lbum releases to date that I can call my own, not counting studio recordings for other bands and projects.

Staying true to my nature as a musician I have dedicated most of my earnings to musical instruments and studio gear, so I am fortunate to have a massive collection of ethnic and modern instruments, and professional gear with which to mix and master it.

My interests are everywhere, which is, well…everything, but I do aim to write only unique and characteristic material.
